London Meet Up - Friday 28th July

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

London Meet Up - Friday 28th July

Post by verbal gymnastics »

A London Meet Up has been arranged on Friday 28th July when we will be joined by Mr King Hoarse. 8)

So far the group consists of

So Lack on vocals
KH on bass
BWAP on keyboards and
Myself on drums.

We are auditioning for a choir and a tambourine player.

There is the possibility of a King Hoarse Karaoke/acapella Elvis singalong!

Everybody is welcome to attend.

Venue and time to be decided.

As far as I know there are no England World Cup matches to distract us.

Looking forward to it!

Won't bring a guitar on the plane though (don't have a hard case) so that karaoke session will have to wait till I'm officially a Londoner in a few months or so. If you guys don't put me off completely.

I spoke to our (very rare poster) Sulky Lad last night and he's in too. I've told him to bring his tambourine.

Just the choir to recruit now

The usual Doofster excuseter!

I shall be luxuriating with Mrs Monkster in the South-West of Ireland with good food, plenty of craic and the odd pint of guinness.

VG - Does your phone take pictures - if so I'll send you each a pint on the night!

The rail network is set to be hit by two strikes by signal workers, threatening chaos for passengers, after a fresh round of pay talks broke down.
The Rail Maritime and Transport Union said thousands of signal workers will walk out for 24 hours from noon on Friday 21 July.

A further 48-hour stoppage will start at noon on Thursday 27 July, it said.
Hopefully the strike will be cancelled but if not.........

That should gain the RMT sympathy from the public.

We'll just have to see what happens.

The arrangements are now as follows.

We are meeting at the Tom Cribb pub in Panton Street on Friday from 4.30pm. A map can be obtained through following this link:

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get there that early but I shall try. At the latest I should be there at 7pm. Some of us have to work for a living

The pub has air conditioning :D

The invitation is still open to all.

Well a great time was had by all!

In attendance were myself, So Lack, BWAP, Sulky Lad, King Hoarse, his girlfriend and her friend James.

Also in the pub was the actor James Dreyfuss who managed to almost light James' arm with his cigarette as he was on his way out.

Sulky Lad as always kindly donated free Elvis live CDs and I am now also the owner of Vererea's One Louder CD (the Japanese issue no less!).

It was great to meet King Hoarse who almost immediately offered to start up an EC tribute band with Sulky Lad.

Unfotunately I left in a kind of hurry because the evening had gone so quickly that before I knew it it was nearly time for my train so apologies if my exit seemed a bit hasty.

We are seriously (ie late night pub talk but I was certainly serious!) talking about an Amsterdam cultural weekend away
