Bush listens to Van Morrision's Brown Eyed Girl on his iPod

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

They have to turn two keys simultaneously to activate it
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Karl Rove probably focus grouped the song choice.

I bet he's playing King Kongby the Kinks

I'm King Kong and I'm ten feet long,
Got a big six gun and everybody is scared.
I'm King Kong, got a hydrogen bomb,
I can blow up your houses so you better beware.

Everybody wants power,
Everybody wants fame.
Everybody wants money.
La-la-la-la-la, King Kong.
La-la-la-la-la,
Little man's weak and big man's strong,
Everyone wants to be King Kong, oh yeah.

I'm King Kong, I got so much money,
I can buy anybody who gets in my path.
I'm King Kong, and I'm big and strong,
I can blow up your houses so you better beware.
Everyone just needs to fuckin’ relax. Smoke more weed, the world is ending.

I think we can be sure he's not listening to EC.

If Bush WERE an EC fan -- or even knew he existed -- it would be weird.

It seems like they already passed a law requiring that BEG be played at every wedding in the U.S.... so I'm sure it was an easy choice.

Well that's a semi-interesting little thought experiment: if Bush DID like an EC song, which one would it be? I'm thinking it would have to entail Reagan-esque mis-comprehension, a la Born in the USA not being the jingoistic jingle he (or his writers) thought it was.

Maybe You Bowed Down?

Too obscure. Probably something like "Pump It Up".

"My mind goes sleepwalking
While I'm putting the world to right...

...We could be in Palestine
Overrun by a Chinese line
With the boys from the Mersey and the Thames and the Tyne"??
echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load

It's not just in the US Muggy - in the UK it is compulsory to have the following played at your wedding:

Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
Come on Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners
Congratulations - Cliff Richard and
New York New York (as the final song of the night) - Frank Sinatra.

As far as George Bush is concerned, I'd like to think he'd frug away to 13 Steps Lead Down. But somehow I don't believe this has ever happened, nor is likely to

Here's what Joni Mitchell had to say about being on the Bush iPod:

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... b=CanadaAM

Go to the Video section, Part 2. Great interview.
(Part 1: Rhino and Starbucks compliations, etc., Part 2: why America is like communist Russia, and why she hates music, Part 3: on Ray Charles, dealing with polio as a child.)
