Superb hard-bop. What a band!

Up there with Lee's The Sidewinder, which is one of my very favorite Blue Note discs.

Are you having a themed jazz fanatic weekend or what?

Personally there's only room in the weekend for 2 or 3 CDs. One is CD2 of the mighty Fall Complete BBC, chiefly because I love the song Garden and this version is perfect. Other is You Could Have It So Much Better which is so much more exciting for me post-gig. It's one of those records that feels like a patchwork of other people's styles and yet remains uniquely the work of FF. I would quite enjoy an evening of 'spot the influence' with this. Most songs contain a bit that makes you think 'ah ha they're reffing [My Sharona]' (that's one particular example, any partakers know what I mean). Often it's Magazine or Blondie (Atomic in particular), and earlyish Beatles too.

Worth a new thread, or shall I just compile my own list?

Yeah, a bit. I'm importing a big slice of my jazz collection into iTunes now that I have more room on the external hard drive.

That explains it! Talking of jazz, there's a UK cable channel caled Artsworld, no idea how you get it, it isn't a subscription option with our cable company, but I often drool over their programming. Almost every night there's something great to watch. Tonight, a Mingus concert.

Do you know a Setzer song called Rebelene, Mood? My buddy with the 1960 Pontiac is fond of a Setzer solo album called Live Nude Guitars, particularly that song. Setzer has created quite the niche for himself with his rockabilly orchestra. The one I have is Guitar Slinger.

he makes a christmas song out of In The Mood that I love, and there's a good version of 'Zat You, Santa Claus? amongst others. just good fun!

So, Bad Amb, that's an audio recording on DVD, right? I don't quite get the concept, does it only play on a DVD player? I guess in these days of home entertainment systems and computers with DVD players and classy speakers (such as I have!) this makes sense. But if it does play on a regular old-fashioned player, does it soundd better? Presumably the significantly huger sspaace on a DVD makes for greater depths of sound quality.

Me too for Bowie live. Feb 2 1976 Vancouver - soundboard recording of pre-tour rehearsal. Very good sound, great stuff. Given the live documentation of '74 and '78 (as above) that has been official released since back in the day, it was great to finally hear some '76 stuff. There's also a May '76 Earls Court recording I'm going to download soon.

Dimeadozen is so addiction-forming that I'll soon be mistaken for Martin Foyle.
