Being There #9 now online

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Being There #9 now online

Post by BlueChair »

Check out http://www.beingtheremag.com/

We posted the brand new issue last night. The Woody Allen cover story was inspired by our brief discussion about Woody that started out with pophead2k listing Interiors as one of his favourite, and Who Shot Sam replying that Interiors must be avoided.

We also have great content from other board members. El Vez and Bamboo came up with a hillarious chapter in the I Wanna See the Nashville Lights comic strip, pip_52 wrote a very insightful peice on art "under the influence," and noiseradio answered all my questions about Beck's Guero in his review.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

We also got help this issue from yet another board member, Spooky Girlfriend! She's graciously volunteered to help me out finding the masses of photos we need for each issue. Thanks, Spooky!

You're too kind, Red. I hope to do more in the future. It's nice to be back using some of the old rusty journalistic skills again. Hopefully I can be of much more use in the very near future. :)

And for all those who put their hard work into this issue, it looks great!

Can anyone offer any constructive feedback on the comic?

I'd like to see more swordplay in future editions

Maybe cut back on your own Dickel consumption when writing it?

Actually you'll want to direct that my way as I wrote the strip.

Okay. Were you drinking Dickel when you wrote it? Fair question, no?

Hey, don't mess w/El Vez's fine work, clearly the work of a brilliantly sober, if mildly deranged, mind!

And what the #$@#$# is "Deckel"?

Lick my decals off baby.
echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load

OnashellacofChopin - now that you've morphed from Michael Caine into Dirty Harry - I think I'll keep my piehole shut.

Seriously, its not bad, just a different brand of humor. Which is a good thing, these days.

I think El Vez's inspired 'moving the furniture' panel, especially, was genius.

George Dickel is a particular brand of booze that Merle shilled for back in the 70's. Actually, I think he's still a plugman for it and he likes telling stories about how he and his buddies could get trashed on it and not wake up with hangovers. That's his big endorsement, actually. Get tore up and don't feel it in the morning.

Dickel is still a really good drinking whiskey from Tennessee. Though I'm partial to Maker's Mark, a proper Bourbon.
