This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

...with the food.
If I was doing any of the others then I wouldn't need the food.
I'm not angry anymore....

I saw that one Rope...good call!!! Hilarious!
A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.

I finished Gargantua! Hurrah! It's because La Maison de Balzac is the best place in the world to study. It's a library in Balzac's old house that has two kinds of books: books by Balzac, and books about Balzac. No Internet, no food, it's always the right temperature and always quiet. In fact, yesterday afternoon I was the only person there.

And Montaigne's Essais are actually pretty interesting, especially the one called, "Philosophizing is learning how to die." He says that because death is just another stage of life, it's as silly to get upset about the fact that someday we're going to be dead as it is to get upset about the fact that we didn't exist before we were born. And that to stop fearing death, we need to think about it all the time, so that the idea isn't so foreign to us. And not once does he mention an afterlife. I can't believe he didn't get burned at the stake.

To read before Sunday (because you care):
Du Bellay's "Déffense et illustration de la langue française"
Rabelais (again!)- Prologue to "Le tiers livre"
Poetry of the French Renaissance

I will be spending the weekend at Balzac's house.

***yawn***

Bored, bored, bored...

I could be out & about, drinking, barbecueing, etc., but noooooo...they used to actually ask us if we wanted the holiday off, to simply keeps costs down (we all get regular pay today, whether we work or not, but we get double-time for every hour we're here), but, alas, no more...

2 hours left, and counting...

Hey, Sulky, I'm not working, but I'm bored, too. It's too hot to barbeque, and too dry for fireworks. I'm not going down to see the big display this year, as some sort of hackneyed protest against our country's aggressive tendencies of late.

Apparently, nobody cares. It's love it or leave it around here. If Canada is okay for Elvis, why not me? Do you ever get up to British Columbia? I've been there, and I really liked it. Not too hot, not too cold. Liberal.

I might just do it.

Hey, guess where this is...

Hey Rope, can I go?

I always liked Canada, and it seems like a good refuge. Never been to BC though . . .

Sulky, isn't the thought of touring around in Rope's "slut" enough to help you pass the time away?

About 38 minutes now, I'm guesing.

Not that I'd trust Rope as fas as I could throw him, fer sure...

18 minutes & counting...
