when i first signed on i used a variant spelling of my first name, and chose the user icon maggie. when the board moved, i wanted to keep maggie (i LOVE maggie. she's so cute, and brilliant, and suave, and articulate. everything i wanna be.) but i wanted a name that wasn't so close to my own.
then, i thought - whats a name to decribe my user icon? a doll? dolly? dollie? toy? puppet? poppet! i wonder if elvis used the word poppet in a song?
yup, he did (it's actually something i haven't heard yet, and can't remember which it is). and since many people had names that had connections to elvis or his work, poppet was appropriate.
so, hi, i'm poppet, and i love elvis.

"It was the story of a young English poppet
Who took up with a soldier boy
And thought she would profit
Just like me she found out what true love is about
Anyway she's in New Orleans It would never work out"

I think the reference to the car is to eliminate the assumption of a plane, as planes just freak me out.......

One "l", huh? My best friend in high school was also named Michelle. We were both actually named Michelle Renee. In grade school there were so many Michelles they numbered us.....I think I was Michelle 3 or something like that.spooky girlfriend wrote:Misha: My real name is also Michele, and no doubt, there are a lot of us from that era because of the infamous song from the Beatles.
Laughing, I'm French.......!!!!!

Motel Matches. For a long time, I couldn't figure out what EC was singing at the beginning of the song and I had no lyric sheet to refer to. It was also the pre-Internet era, so there was no resource for lyric searches. Then one day I figured it out. Now, of course, all of the re-issues include lyrics and extensive liner notes, but with the old Columbia LPs there were not a lot of frills.

You're right, I hate complaining... cos it annoys the hell out of me. And where else would you expect to find Miss Buenos Aires? And under silk sheets. Just like Misha and Bobster (I don't mean to start any embarrassing messageboard innuendo or anything, but did you two get it on, or what?).verbal gymnastics wrote:Stop moping there late in the evening!bambooneedle wrote:I'm getting tired of being on that shellac of Chopin...

Nope Bamboo.....NOT that you are trying to start any rumors or anything....we met up and snacked and saw a movie and then went back out and ate again, then shopped for old cds....we both had a great time...will probably do it again....both of our schedules permitting.....speaking for my side of the fence....We have yet to name the baby...... ---Not that I'm trying to start any messageboard innuendo or anything...sorry to tell you this way Bobster.....bambooneedle wrote:You're right, I hate complaining... cos it annoys the hell out of me. Re: Drunken unmarriages (Britney and Justin; Misha and Me -- esp. alarming seeing as Misha doesn't drink). I believe there's a new amendment to the proposed "Defense of Marriage" constitutional amendment that will specifically prevent members of the same fan board from marrying without signed permission slips from the celebrity in question.
