Elvis in Rolling Stone

Post by LessThanZero »

I saw an article in the latest RS where some wrote a letter in asking who Bebe Buell was, and they talked about Elvis. I guess I should've brought it to work so I could transcribe it for everyone.

Can anyone help with this?

It was a "question" from a UK person wanting to know if "all those songs were really about" **. The same stuff that has already been put out there. They quoted the EC liner notes and blah, blah, blah. The his word against her word thing. I hear she has the "letters" though and that none of us will ever really know the truth because she won't let the letters go and EC won't admit they were serious. Same old shit. Boring. There is a cute picture of the two of them though. It is so funny because that was like 15 years ago. Her book is out over two years now- old news. Someone trying to stir shit it looked to me. I'm sure there will be some sort of "retort". The two of them are as bad as Bruce and EC, lol.

I take his word over hers any and every day. She's a sad figure. I hope she has proper meds.

It is two pics put together.

Oh, it is- you are right but it is still cute- they were both VERY young in the photo. As far as anyone being "sad" and all that- I am not going to go there. I don't really care. He has his new life and she has hers and I still think it is loony to judge anyone, him or her, on stuff that happened 25 years ago.

I went ot her site at http://www.freewebs.com/bebebuell/ to see if there was anything and there isn't. It wasn't EC or ** who said anything. It was just speculation on the part of a question and a writer. It all looked suspect and rumorish. I'm not taking sides- she looks pretty damn happy with her husband. Hardly seems to be pine-ing over Mr. C. nor he is over her. It is so stupid to me. All of it. They are both very much with people they love and this is old news brought up again.

Yeah, Marianne Faithfull is a real artist who continues to put out good work. Her last album from last year is highly recommended.

*Actually, I like them both and they are friends. They both have amazing voices and they are both rather interesting. I don't think posing for Playboy 30 years ago makes you a "porno" model for goodness sake. Times have changed for women and it seems odd to call anyone such things. Look, I think EC is just mad at ** because of her book. Just like with Bruce. ** really didn't say anything bad about EC in her tome. I also think it is highly possible that they ONCE really did love each other and he has changed his mind and wants to give her a few jabs here and there. If you do the math, they met in the summer of '78- making them both 23-24 years old. I don't make up my mind about anyone based on things they did when they were that young. I think they have both moved on and are fascinating people- both of them. Some fans of "the man" are going to hate and question any woman that he loved or dated. But I for one don't think we should hold that against any of his women- including Diana. And Cope, your comment about ** needing to lose a few stone? The same could be said for EC. I personally think she looks great and real at the weight she is. After all, she is not a youngster anymore and nor is he. When I peeked at her site, http://www.freewebs.com/bebebuell/ , I didn't see one mention of EC but lots of mentions of Todd and her other exes. She is also married. I've had my say.

Used and abused. And accused.

A little slow on the uptake, if you ask me. Lights are on, but nobody's home. Not only does posing for Playboy 30 years ago constitute being a porno model (Playboy is a porn mag, after all), but that's all she was ever known for. Being naked and being a groupie. She's slunk meat. All she's ever been.

You'd think that she'd realize by now no one is interested in what she has to say.

Spooky and I saw her a few years ago at a music festival. As I recall, she was playing with pieces of the Spencer-Davis Group and Rare Earth. That combo was really fantastic. Do you remember this SGf?

Hey I'm getting better.. I actually quoted a message. :)
