This sounds good to me today: Saute (or grill) some scallops and grape tomatoes in olive oil, garlic and lemon juice for a few minutes, throw in some cooked linguine and a little chopped fresh basil and parsley and toss it around to coat the pasta. Green salad, crusty bread to mop up the sauce, and ...

i recently bought the vinyl version of Spike and the cover scares me a little bit. The cover of 'Spike' has always scared the crap out of me, too. I was so relieved when Gillibeanz changed her avatar. I like 'Trust', and there's also something appealing about the 'Taking Liberties' cover--faded jea...

Old people and their cars is a really tough issue. The day we had to take away my grandmother's car keys was a terrible day for her, and for us, as well. She would take her car to the store, or doctor's appointment or whatever and she would get lost coming home. The DMV wouldn't revoke her license a...

I like Pete a lot, because he's tall, and I like 'em tall. Also, I like how he always appears to be singing along--looks like he enjoys his work. I like Davey a lot, because he seems to have effortlessly fit into a group of people with quite a history together, which I would imagine would be a bit i...

Crocodiles have pointy-er noses and are greener.

Alligators have broader noses and are darker.

There are exceptions, which can be distinguished by looking at the teeth, as Ms. Mug points out. A crocodile's teeth stick out when the mouth is closed.

So says scientist man-of-the-house.

Hmmm.....was I suckered? I know the comment wasn't directed at me, but I got the same set a few months back for $70, including shipping. I've seen it go for slightly less, and I've also seen it go for a lot more. The one I got was previously played, but was in perfect shape, as far as I could tell,...

Water boils at 10,000 feet, but at too low a temperature to cook rice. In theory, it can cook, but takes longer. A pressure cooker will do it in a shorter time, but don't fit so good in backpacks. Of course, I only found out about this after the fact.

Minute Rice. Shoulda thought....

John Malkovich. Alan Rickman. Go ahead, laugh; I don't understand it myself, but there it is.

I used to find Brad Pitt attractive in a little-boy sort of way, until he quit bathing.

Johnny Depp, sometimes.

EC, goes without saying.

And in solidarity with Plaything, Steve Nieve.

BWAP--nope, didn't know Kessel ever had anything to do with Ricky Nelson. Cool. Yep, the stuff with Grappelli is so great. I grew up on 'Limehouse Blues'. I also really like his work on Julie London's 'Julie Is Her Name', as I'm a fan of girl singers. I love how he manages to impress without showing...

Not just a song, but a whole album for me. XTC's Skylarking reminds me of one of the best times of my life. I had always wanted to call my daughter Stella, and it wasn't until I was actually with child that I realized Stella would rhyme with my surname. He was, indeed, brilliant, but did he not seem a bit surly? Perhaps it was the heat and humidity, or perhaps it was Wolf Trap itself, which I understand he doesn't like a lot. Anyway, I thought it was a great show. I am pretty sure this setlist is fairly accurate. Any corrections welcome. 1. Everybo...
