I thought it was excellent, if a tad slow at the beginning (though I loved Ch.2, Spinner's End), with enough plot twists, surprises and info to keep me happily theorising until the next book. :D C'mon, Crow! What do you say? *major spoiler!* Talk about being a double agent! Obviously Snape did what ...

A lot of people have taken the day off expecting trouble getting into work, but I got there and back this morning with the minimum of hassle. Gilli's right - lots of tourists around there staying in posh B+Bs. Evil is dumb when it blows up a packed bus on the doorstep of a building full of doctors. ...

Here's the statement from Ken Livingstone (Mayor of London for those with an eh? look on their face). Never thought I'd be saying that right now I'm rather proud of old Red Kenno. "This was a cowardly attack, which has resulted in injury and loss of life. Our thoughts are with everyone who has ...

Many thanks to Poppet for relaying the message. I'm still a little thrown by avoiding being possibly blown to pieces in Edgware Rd station by only about 50 minutes. Thankfully where I was working was far enough away that I didn't even know what was going on until the emergency services started racin...

Would you like the famous t-shirt to go with that declaration, Jackson? http://store1.yimg.com/I/engrish-store_1844_2154731 Instead of staying to watch The Futureheads do Hounds of Love at Glastonbury, I decided to see a band called Kangaroo Moon and nearly lose a Wellington boot in the process. Grrr..the BBC4 signal was rubbish because of the weather last night so I missed most of the programme. Bloc Party, The Zutons and White Stripes were all v.good on BBC3. EC maintaining a look of "What the fuck am I doing here?" for a full hour on Johnny Vegas was admirable and highly amusing.

...I came across some amateur photographers forum and found that Kodak cameras in general are perceived as less reliable than, say, Olympus, Fuji, Sony or Canon. On the whole, they are. A friend has a Fuji Finepix S7000 which he says is flawless (and it's in the same price range as the Kodak one). ...

Random EC meeting post...

From Livejournal: So today, after a nice lunch, I was travelling home from Derby with my new co-worker, who I shall refer to as H. We stopped at the service station outside Birmingham and, quite unexpectedly... I met Elvis Costello. I was a little tired because we were up at 6:00 AM and we'd just ha...

Overall it's not very inspiring is it? Tactical voting for me. Blair will get back in, but I'll play my part in ensuring that the majority is reduced so that he finds it harder to get his many draconion bills pushed through without opposition. What Doofster said. I'm currently your friendly Hammers...

Is Jimmy White out? Was he ever in? I used to hate watching Jimmy get to the final and then bottle it quite spectacularly. He hasn't been right since he had his scalp stretched to cover his bald spot.

Audioscrobbler?

Anyone have Audioscrobbler ? I'm getting quite anal about it now but it has its problems (wrong and infrequent playlist updates, displaying of wrong players - because I'd never use Windows Media Player, dammit!, general sloooowness, etc). Any suggestions for a similar geeky fad but without the bugs?

Didn't make an effort to catch this as the Radio Times said something along the lines of 'it's supposed to be a comedy but it didn't make me (the reviewer) laugh'. As for Chris Langham, he's probably better known as a writer and was the narrator on the superb "People Like Us" a few years a...
