Wow, it looked like the Red Sox were going to blow it at the last minute, but now they're advancing. Congrats to those in the house from Boston.

But I think the question of the day is who is going to win the World Series this year?

This is the "world series" played only in Nth America right?

...and yes, I know it was named after a news publication that sponsored the series - however, I just couldn't resist :)

I think the Red Sox just may do it this year. They beat Oakland by the skin of their teeth last night. The Sox are tough to beat and they gave the Yankees all they could handle this season. A Cubs-Sox World Series would be great.

Since my Dodgers missed the playoffs, I was just happy to see the Giants (my brother's and sister's favorite team) lose. Anything else is gravy, as they say!

Too bad your poll isn't, "who would you LIKE to win." Frankly, I'd love to see Chicago and Boston is the Series, then at least one team would be assured of breaking its curse.

There's no option for "you couldn't get me to care about this if you threatened me with a baseball bat." I guess my dad and grandpa will probably be rooting for the Cubs, so Cubs it is.

Well, Who Shot Sam? blew it for the Red Sox, and BWAP made it worse! Don't you know you're not supposed to talk about it? You jinxed them!

Actually, their owner beat both of you by talking about how great it would be if they made it to the Series.

I am obviously abstaining.

Anybody but the gawd-awful Seattle Mariners!!

Okay, not on the poll, and already out of the running, but I am surrounded EVERY YEAR by avid locals who are CONVINCED this is their BEST year ever, and that the WILL take the penant THIS YEAR.

I make a lot of money betting against them.

Lately--no one takes me up on those bets anymore.

I must say that the Mariners do have a stunning ballpark. And Ichiro is an incredible ballplayer. I caught a game out there a few weeks ago when I was visiting my mother in Seattle and had a wonderful time. Still, you'd think they would have won something by now. They are the Atlanta Braves of the American League. Well, not quite - the Braves did manage to win it all one year.

Since my Brewers were eliminated the first week of the season, I am pulling for the neighbors to the south, the Cubbies.

I would like to see the Red Sox and Cubs in the series. Fox would like that for the ratings. If those two teams meet, the series would have to go 7 games, as each team would find ways to not win it. This has to be the year that the curse is broken for somebody!!!

Well, Yankees vs Marlins it is. Shows how much you lot know!!!

Only one person (me) predicted the Yankees and three the Marlins. Isn't there a Marlins fan who posts here, can't remember who it is.
