Another CD circle?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Another CD circle?

Post by ice nine »

I know there are many reasons not to make a compilation up. They are time consuming to put together, you worry about your musical tastes, you have to take the time to even think about doing it, etc. But there are reasons to make one for someone else, too. They are just plain fun to make. You get to listen, and decide to include or exclude, to some of your collection. I know listening to my circle CDs that Mike Boom, Chrille, and Otis have made for me have been enjoyable. Is there still an interest in doing these things? We don't have to do the circle now or even next month, but atleast we can judge if this is a worthwhile pursuit.

I have always enjoyed giving and receiving, and would be interested. I think another themed circle would be good.

I'm hopelessly slow at these things, but would be in if we can leave it at 1 CD, and the theme is a good 'un. I was thinking music genres, e.g. people post what they wanna get and can offer, and someone puts together a circle. Might not work of course! I'm happy to volunteer if people like this idea.

e.g. I want classic, vintage reggae; classic vintage blues; American psychedelia

I can offer post-punk UK indie from its 79-81 heyday; classical music (orchestral, solo/chamber, with voice, whatever, though bugger me nowhere near as much as WSS!!!).

Any takers for a genre circle?

BUMP!

So what does everyone think? Just a general CD circle, or should we do another themed one... maybe live recordings only?

Hate to be a spoil sport, but making a mix CD is frustrating enough without some theme attached.

I agree. Would prefer not to be restrcited to a theme. And I don't have a lot of live material to offer.

I was waiting until a theme was decided but since it's a free for all I'll throw my hat in the ring.

Why do I fear that Mood is going to exact revenge on me? This should be fun!

Blue: this is an intimidating challenge - haven't you got most things already? Any requests genre-wise, era-wise, content-wise? Actually, I have a couple of ideas already, but thought I'd ask...

There's lots of gaps in my musical appreciation. For example, you talk about Joy Division and Lloyd Cole a lot and I maybe know one song from each of those.

Got my CDs together for bambooneedle. Now I just need to work up the energy to brave the 95 degree heat and make it to the post office.
