Couple of notes from the Webcast last night -- at the end of the first set, Elvis said (in a nod to The Prisoner?) "Good night children, everywhere", then added "Goodnight Frank, goodnight Dex". We did see Diana outside the backstage door, so I wonder who's watching the boys.

My association with that line is 'Goodnight noises everywhere', the breathtaking closing line of the stunning Goodnight Moon, which I assume Elvis is reading aloud on a nightly basis to the sound of happy gurgling.

Absolutely!!
Both of my children loved that incredible book. I miss those days of bedtime stories.

I *love* Goodnight Moon." The kids have the popout version. Aahh. Now they ask for money and favors and help with homework instead of bedtime stories. Sigh.

Elvis looks so funny as the dad of little babies.

Q: Are the twins musically inclined? Genetically, how could they not be?

DK: They love music. They're only 6 months old, but they're interested. I took them to an art gallery and they looked at the paintings and colors. I'm sure they are very aware.

Q: Do you surround them with music?

DK: I can't help it. They're a tough audience, though. I put them in their little bouncer seats and played the piano for them. I got a little crying from one and laughter from the other - sort of mixed reviews.

This profile of Ms Krall has a new , to me, titbit about the twins -

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/m ... azz10.html

August 10, 2007

( extract)

Krall's appearance at Chateau Ste. Michelle on Saturday and Sunday comes at the midpoint of her first tour since giving birth to twins last December. The father, of course, is Krall's rock-star husband, Elvis Costello, whom she married in 2003. The boys — Frank and Dexter (fraternal, not identical twins) — are with her on tour. (Costello is not.)

As an identical twin I can only envy them . They'll be spared double-takes when together in public . The absolute same jokes over and over and over again , usually the one about how we 'must have had great fun tricking girls' growing up. And hundreds of other delightful aspects of being an identical twin.

Take my word for it.

Aren't too many infants being wheeled around Chelsea wearing trousers these days! Great photos.

They're such cute little boogers. This is one of the few ways I can get my mom to talk anything Elvis. We're both suckers for babies.
Why don't you write about it in your blag?

It's so odd seeing Elvis wearing anything but a suit... and also, he looked really strange without his glasses on in that one shot!

Twins' musical horizons keep expanding... Diana's been singing Lydia the Tattooed Lady to the kids - and sings a couple bars in this NPR interview from earlier in the month.

(BTW, I've heard EC called many things but 'gorgeous' ain't one of them... guess it's a biased source though  )

I've long suspected EC stole the "torso"/"more so" rhyme in "The Great Unknown" from "Lydia the Tattooed Lady."

From http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2008/02 ... l-and.html

Singer/songwriter Diana Krall, 43, was snapped arriving at the Vancouver airport on Saturday in Vancouver, BC with fraternal twin sons Dexter Henry Lorcan (l) and Frank Harlan James (r), 14 months. Dad Elvis Costello was also with them, but is not pictured.

And most importantly -

Dexter wears Stride Rite's See Saw hook and loop in white/navy ($44).
Frank wears New Balance Kids KV 502 ($49).
The boys are riding in a Maclaren 2007 Twin Techno in Storm Grey ($400).

Does Frank not have quite a bit of Elvis about him? Their faces are reasonably different, and my money's on Frank having the strongest MacManus genes.

Elvis keeps eye on one- eyed city

Mar 13 2008 by Jade Wright, Liverpool Echo

ELVIS Costello kept an eye on his home town when he brought his one-year-old twins to see their grandmother this week.

The singer-songwriter came to visit his mum with Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James, his sons with Canadian jazz singer and pianist Diana Krall.

And according to Insider’s spies he took out the top suite at the Radisson SAS ... so he could look out over his native Birkenhead.

Hadn't you heard? Elvis is filming his cameo in the new series of '24' ; he plays a gay wine waiter who pops Jacks's cork ( lets get that rumour started here..)
