My friend Kelly Pettit called me a few weeks ago and asked if I would like to write a Christmas song with him. I of course said YES!.
Kelly and I wound up with Christmas Everyday which he is performing on a new cd entitled A Very Vancouver Christmas. This cd is a charity project with proceeds going to SPCA. Kelly perfoms the song and the song will be track number one on the cd.
I am very greatful that he included me on this project and I am thrilled at the way the song turned out. Kelly did a great job.
An upcoming web site will provide you a way to buy this cd which will be for charity so you can feel good about yourself at the same time. The link is:
http://www.veryvancouverchristmas.com
you can currently hear the song on my myspace
http://www.myspace.com/markclay
Please feel free to add the song to you myspace site if you have one for the holidays.
thanks everyone
take care
Mark

This is from an email I sent to local folks here in my area but I thought Id share it here. Its much or info than you all need but just wish me luck so I don't end up sounding like a fool on the radio.
thanks
Tomorrow morning (Thursday December 7th), The local radio station in
Front Royal Va (where I live) will be playing Christmas Everyday by
Kelly Pettit. This is the song Kelly and I wrote which is now
featured on both our myspace sites. There will be a brief interview
about the song, the cd (A Very Vancouver Christmas) and the charities
the cd is raising money for.
This song is currently entered in the NSAI song contest in Nashville TN.

http://www.myspace.com/kellypettit
http://www.myspace.com/markclay
This will begin at 8am or shortly after.
If you live in the area please tune in. Their number on the dial is 95.3 FM
Thanks to all the friends Kelly and I have here for being so nice and
supporting us and this song.
thank you
Mark
below I have included information about the CD and charities from
Jenn. She is the one who produced the cd and headed up the entire
project.
This album is the child of three grown ideas. I wanted to find a way
to showcase some of Vancouver's amazing new musical talent, while at
the same time involve and give back to the community. I also wanted to
pay tribute to non-traditional Christmas and holiday music and the
people who make it; so what better way to get everything I want for
Christmas, than through the production of this CD!
"A Very Vancouver Christmas" is an album of original Christmas/Holiday
music, in aid of the BC-SPCA and the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.
100% of proceeds will be donated to our charities.
In August 2006, 10 of Vancouver's most popular musicians and bands
were invited to join this project for charity. In just a few short
months they wrote and recorded their own original Christmas/Holiday
music. The results are amazing.
"I consider many of these musicians to be the 'next
generation' of
Vancouver's finest, and they have been hand picked because of their
talent and marketability.
Musical styles are varied, from jazz and blues to
rock, country and
indie music. All of the material is original with a
Christmas/Holiday theme. We are expecting radio play, and hoping this
will be an annual event, with live performances, as one of the goals
of this album project was to make these musicians and their music
available to a wider, non club going audience.
All artists and services are donated, and, as
mentioned, all income
from sales will be split between the charities: BC SPCA and the
Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. CDs will cost 10$."
