They say they're runnin' out of angels
they say I'm running out of time
oh you don't have to be lucky
it is easier than tryin'
now they're bringing down a hammer
on anything that sells
I suppose you're a.. winner
because they're running out of angels
oh

Radio Radio

I was tuning in the shine on the light night dial
doing anything my radio advised
with every one of those late night stations
playing songs bringing tears to me eyes
I was seriously thinking about hiding the receiver
when the.. switch broke, 'cos it's old
they're saying things that I can hardly believe
they really think we're getting out of control

The songs gotta be from standard reissued or issued albums. Standard albums only, not bonus discs et al.

Radio is a sound salvation
Radio is cleaning up the nation.
They say you better listen to the voice of reason
But they don't give you any choice
cos they think that it's treason
So you had better do as you were told.
You better listen to the radio.
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

This is one of those EC songs I happen to have "perfect knowledge" of.

I wanna bite the hand that feeds me
I wanna bite that hand so badly
I wanna make them wish they'd never seen me!

Some of my friends sit around every evenin'
and they worry about the times ahead
But everybody else is overwhelmed by indifference
and the promise of an early bed
you either shut up or get cut out
they don't wanna hear about it
it's only inches on the reel-to-reel
and the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools
tryin' to anaesthetize the way that you feel!

CHORUS:
Radio is a sound salvation
radio is cleaning up the nation
they say you better listen to the voice of reason...
but they don't give you any choice
'cos they think that it's treason...
so you had better do as you are* told
- you better listen to the radio.

*just claiming correction points-- noise erred with 'were'.

I think it sounds like "were." But http://www.elviscotello.info disagrees with me. So I submit.

I often think when he sings " Put " , it sounds like " Pooed "

There's a couple I've noticed, but the only one I can think of at the minute is...

" So I pooed on my overcoat"

...from American without Tears.

I'm so immature.

EC is kind of affecting an American accent which makes me suspect that if he were singing 'were' there would be a far more obvious 'w' sound; I hear 'are'. The Rhino notes also say 'are'.

Naughty Elvis pooing on his overcoat!

Or there's "I'll wear it proudly" , Where...

"you pooed all over my face..."

And don't even think about "Suffering Face..."
