This Mark Foley guy - what the fuck? He's got a million excuses lined up, doesn't he? Alcoholism, childhood abuse at the hands of a priest...

This may be even sicker - using children as human shields to keep reporters from asking difficult questions. What a complete scumbag!

What is up with Beck, the Decemberists and the Hold Steady all releasing albums this week? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm excited, but a girl has to eat!

The New York City subway is the only place you'll ever hear My Way played on a steel drum.

:-)

I heard some interesting steel drum cover versions at Federation Square in Melbourne, but "My Way" was not one of them!

Yeah, I'd totally forgotten I'd heard that in the Times Square station last week. Dang I miss living in New York.

Yeah, it's art. Not highbrow stuff by any means, but what the hell - art should be fun too. The slides are things of beauty!

don't be sad, Gilli. cos if you're sad, then I have to sing...

Hey look me over
Lend me an ear
Fresh out of clover
Mortgage up to here
But don't pass the plate folks
Don't pass the cup
I figure whenever you're down and out
The only way is up

And I'll be up like a rose bud
High on the vine
Don't thumb your nose
But take a tip from mine
I'm a little bit short of the elbow room
But let me get me some
And look out world
Here I come

and if you really need a smile, picture me and 29 other girls in matching vests AND kilts singing this song. Is it any wonder I was depressed, paranoid and suicidal back then?

Anyone else enjoying these Tommy Lasorda ads they've been running during the Fox post-season coverage? Brilliant. This one's my fave...

Absolutely. Observer article this weekend made the point that eac new commission will have a harder time deciding what to do with the Turbine Hall - you can't do sound, cos Naumann's done that (brilliantly!), you can't do a huge latex thing that fills it cos Kapoor did that, etc. they look gorgeous. Can't wait to take the kids! Observer's Lynn Barber, a lady advancing in her years and of the largeish variety, urges caution, though:

Everybody (on this side of the equator) who wants to skip fall and winter and start spring all over, say "aye."

True to my pain-in-the-ass persona, can I have just Spring and Fall? :)

Yay! Bowie and Spongebob! I have often wanted to change my signature quote to "Prepare for the most unpleasant pillow fight of your life..." (That's Patrick, actually.)

Does it even get that cold where you are?
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.
