Still I find it strange not to play the DC - Baltimore area and also Boston. Might be some political revenge. LOL!

I'm in optimist mode and assuming he'll eventually announce a Boston date-- maybe he's wangling an offbeat venue, like The Roxy... hint, hint, Elvis.....

The dates on the "official" site don't jibe with the dates on Sondre Lerche's site. I'm inclined to go with the dates on SL's site, mostly because those will benefit me personally! Woo, Constitution Hall!

This bloggster seems to be referring to Athens, Georgia -

http://antidisingenuous.blogspot.com/20 ... 8135318279

'Elvis Costello (& Impostors) to play The Classic Center April 27. Tickets set at $35. Why the hell come to Athens, really?'

There's no mention of it , though , on the venue's site -

user "Basher" left this comment on the Easytree forum:

"Thanks for the Costello torrent. I just bought a gen. ad. ticket
for his show in Baltimore on April 24."

Beacon tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10. I'm not missing this one, especially since it's on a Friday night. Any NY-area posters interested in meeting up beforehand for a few drinks?

Edit: Got tickets for me and my wife after they went on sale today. not bad - Loge row G.

SXSW Interview: Elvis Costello

Room 18 ABC

Wednesday, March 16th

4:30 pm - 5:45 pm

Elvis Costello sits down for a very rare public interview with author
Bill Flanagan. Costello is touring behind "The Delivery Man" a new album
with his band the Imposters, steeped in Southern rock and soul. His
diverse musical projects have crossed genres and traditions gracefully,
whether he's collaborating with Burt Bacharach or presenting orchestral
scores. He's set to release two books in the coming year. A fascinating
glimpse of a true musical original.

Cincinnati show at the Taft Theatre (on May 5th ) is now announced, with presale on
March 2nd...

I stand by my theory that they're going to work their back back from
the midwest to the East coast on the way to the UK dates, so I think
there's still hope for you Philly and maybe even Boston fans...

Here's the Ticketmaster link for May 5th -

ELVIS COSTELLO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 1, 2005
ELVIS COSTELLO & THE IMPOSTERS: ACCLAIMED EUROPEAN TOUR DATES HIGHLIGHTING PAST AND PRESENT GEMS
First leg of "THE MONKEY SPEAKS HIS MIND" US tour begins March 2 in Orlando, FL

"The other night we were in Rome," Elvis Costello recently commented in an interview in the Liverpool Echo, "I just sat on the edge of the stage and sang two ballads. I brought the microphone down - I had no monitors or anything. I just sat there with my legs dangling over and the next thing I had all these people around me. It was like I was telling them a story. I finished the song and this girl reached up and kissed my hand so I figured I must have been doing something right." (2/11/05) Elvis Costello & The Imposters are certainly doing something right, touring to much fanfare across Europe during the first leg of their 2005 tour, performing diverse, high-energy sets running the gamut of Costello's vast catalog.

That remarkable chemistry has been evident to many critics during the tour. Audiences in cities such as Edinburgh, Liverpool, Stockholm, Antwerp and Milan have been thrilled as Elvis Costello & The Imposters have taken their show on the road in Europe, performing many older, lesser-played gems as well as classics, and tracks from the Grammy-nominated new album THE DELIVERY MAN (Lost Highway). The Liverpool Daily Post commented, "It was as if he had been charging at the mains for 48 hours." (2/17/05)

The Edinburgh Evening News also raved, "He plays a good deal of his most recent long-player...the best songs from Delivery Man can stand proudly alongside Costello's classics that still see him filling venues of this size around the world." (2/15/05)

Elvis Costello & The Imposters kick off the first leg of their US "The Monkey Speaks His Mind" tour in Orlando March 2. Lost Highway will also release a limited edition of THE DELIVERY MAN on March 1, which includes a bonus disc, 'The Clarksdale Sessions,' featuring five alternate versions of songs from 'The Delivery Man,' two non-album tracks and a preview video clip.

I just got my Houston tickets from the presale - FRONT ROW CENTER! I still can't believe it, best seats I've ever had for a non-standing room only show. I had 3d row last time around, which was cool because halfway through people abandoned seats and I got pretty close, but dang, I can NOT wait!
