London Meet Up - Saturday September 4th

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

London Meet Up - Saturday September 4th

Post by verbal gymnastics »

Three of the Board's finest/dodgiest (ie VG, Otis and Jackson) members would like to meet similar minded people for fun and frolics.

The idea is to start off by having a beer and probably carrying on doing that until people either fall over or have to catch their last train.

Conversation will be highbrow, as befitting the quality of the three people listed above.

The invitation is open to all. We haven't decided a venue yet but we'll probably want to start close to Charing Cross as that's central.

Go on - you know you want to!

How can you gentlemen even think of doing this without some ladies? You know I would be there if I could. :)

Enjoy yourselves.

If only it were 1 1/2 years ago I could have been there!
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

If only I could ....
I miss London desparately as last time I went there was in 1999 (when Poland lost 1 : 3 against England at Wembley  ) and it seems such a long time ago.

Please post some pictures.

I'll be there, though I did wonder whether Sept 25 mightbe better, so we could go to North London, watch the White Hart Lane fixture (with Gilli in tow, it goes without saying) so me and SLL could get beaten up for laughing. Maybe not. Sept 4 is suitably football free, so we'll have nothing to fight about. Dr J sez he's coming too.

Yes I am, although I await my final work rota which can turn a night out into a cameo appearance. But it's all good.

So far then:

VG
Jackson
Otis
BWAP
SLL (I assume that BEER=YES)
DrJ

Can you make it Gilli? We need a lady to spill all of our problems out to at the end of the evening. And to tell us to put our tongues back in!

POP - are you in the area around that time?
LC - you could tie in a job search at London Zoo!

I'm travelling an awful lot between Scouseland and London Village at the moment and have no idea what'll I'll be doing next week, never mind in September! I'll know for definite closer to the date.

It's just been brought to my attention that England are playing Austria in the World Cup qualifier on Saturday 4th September. Kick off is 7.30pm.

What do we do now gentlemen?

Either a) make sure we're in a pub with a screen, b) say 'what the hell, they'll win anyway, and we're focussing on the premiership right now', or c) redate to e.g. Sept 18 or 25. Actually, 25 would be a laugh if those interested (JM, GB!) met at 3 to watch Spurs v MU in a pub!

I don't suppose you'd care to re-schedule the event for Anaheim...Disneyland is real close! Beer is still legal in Orange County. Kind of.

So any idea of pubs with a screen in the area?

We'll have to make it an early start then so we get good seats!
