Sad News

Post by Pov »

In case you haven't heard, Larry La Prise died last week. With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person...a death that almost went unnoticed.

Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey," died peacefully at the age of 93.

The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left foot in, and then the trouble started...

Respect is due! Nice one, Pov! To me/us, it's 'Hokey Cokey' (or perhaps 'Kokey'). Is it 'Pokey' in the US/original? I pay regular homage by ensuring the younger generation in this house are well-versed too (in the 'Cokey' version, at least!).

It's definitely "Pokey" in the U.S. -- though who knows if it's original to us. It does have a certain American "swing" to it, though, I guess.

Ok... is it just me, or did this happen a year ago? I remember reading that the guy who wrote "The Hokey Pokey" had died a year ago.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

I grimaced.

Apparently it's Pokey in Ireland too. So why are we weird here?
