Mug's Lyrics-About-Sex Quiz

STICKY as in "Parental Advisory for Explicit Lyircs"...

Okay. I've been writing this list of GUILTY PLEASURES LYRICS in my Palm Pilot from time to time, losing it, getting it back, etc., and I decided to post it tonight. But then at the last minute, after a few glasses of champagne all by myself (don't even ask) I thought, nah, I'll do this instead.

Can someone remind me how the scoring works? Or better yet, do it for me? You guys'll knock off 80% of these in an hour, I'll bet! Oh, and there's one here that might be said to not explicitly be about sex, but the artist in question doesn't write about anything else, so anything from that catalogue qualifies, IMO.

Signed,

Middle-Aged-Mind-in-the-Gutter Mug

Okay, sportsfans, here we go!

SMM's Lyrics About Sex Quiz!!!!!!

[X]
1. Garbage - SLEEP TOGETHER

If we come together
We'll go down forever
If we sleep together
Will I like you better
If we come together
Prove it now or never

[X]
2. Romeo Void - NEVER SAY NEVER

… there’s somethin'
In your eyes that says
Maybe that’s never

[X]
3. Moby - HEAVY FLOW

The way you touch me babe
You know it makes me whole
And when you're fuckin' me
It powers up my soul

[X]
4. Proclaimers - COME ON NATURE

My desire, is to stretch myself inside her body's fire
If I stumbled in then I could say that I had been to the
chamber where your greatest work of art was on display.

[X]
5. Iggy Pop - PUSSY POWER (Um, did I not post that once already?)

When it's there and I can't have it
I get real real rabid
I've got to figure out a way
I'm so pent-up, like this I can't stay
I've got to look this in the eye
I'm much too crazed, I'm much too shy
But all in all, at least I am I

[X]
6. They Might Be Giants - MY MAN

Signals command the leg
To follow orders coming down from headquarters
Why then am I in bed?
I guess my man’s fallen out with my head

[X]
7. Liz Phair - FLOWER

You act like you're fourteen years old
Everything you say is so obnoxious,
Funny, true and mean
I want to be your blowjob queen

[X]
8. Morrissey - ALSATIAN COUSIN

A note upon his desk. "P.S.,
Bring Me Home And Have Me!"
Leather elbows on a tweed coat
-Oh!- Is THAT the best you can do ?
So came his reply :
"But on the desk is where I want you!"

[X]
9. Prince - TAKE ME WITH U

Come on and touch the place in me
That's calling out your name
We want each other oh so much
Why must we play this game?

[X]
10. Joni Mitchell - RAISED ON ROBBERY

I'm a pretty good cook
I'm sittin on my groceries
Come up to my kitchen
I'll show you my best recipes

Rope - You're thinking of the late great Waitresses - but that's not their song - Romeo Void - "I Might Like You Better If We Slept Together.

Why do I know the one about the blowjob queen - Liz Phair's "Flower".

Nice goin', Boy! You're slightly off on the Romeo Void title, but I'm givin' it to you anyway, especially since that's what I always think of the song as, too.

Nah, that would be the Bangles, rope. "I Know What Boys Like" is actually a song by the Waitresses.

The Bangles newest album features their cover of...Tear Off Your Own Head (It's A Doll Revolution). And you know what? It's terrific. I like it better than the original.

Pelt away.

5 - Pussy Power by Iggy Pop.

That's the only one I know I think. I've led a very sheltered life.

Noisey, I specifically expected you to get one of these three-- but not that one! Do you really know ANIMAL RIGHTS??? I think I'm one of 6 people who owns and likes it...

God is that a sexy song, in its hard-core thrasher way...

I started paying attention to Moby with Animal Rights. I don't care much for his earlier work, and while it's dancible, the newer stuff doesn't strike me as that ingenious (look, Ma, I can put a breakbeat behind old gospel and blues records). I think Animal Rights is bold and interesting. I haven't listened to it in ages (which is why it took me a while), but I like it a lot. Saw him on tour with that album. He's better on disc than in person.

Gosh, Noisey, you sure know how to cover your bases, doncha!

Well, I'm glad you know the song-- I love it, and I love the Look-Ma stuff as well. When I saw him play last summer (Area whatever) he was great, really showed his all-aroundness, playing guitar, keybords, drujs, and singing. He reminds me of Brian Eno in his tastse and ambitions; it's great.

Now, there are those other ones....

I would like to see him now. When I saw him it was part of a festival show, and those are always awkward (though Cake and Beck were at the same show, and both killed). I don't hate the Look-Ma stuff. I listened to Play non-stop for a few weeks when it came out, and I don't think there's a bad tune on it. But he was praised by some for innovation, and I think Animal Rights was far more innovative.

That's all I was trying to say before. It's his most unappreciated work, and that's too bad.

Here's two more I thought of:

1) Poe - (Don't know name of song) - I want to blow you........away
2) XTC - Pink Thing -
Any time you rise, I'm here, and I'm crazy for you pink thing
You make me want to laugh, you make me want to cry
and when I stroke your head I feel a hundred heartbeats high
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think that you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt

6. They Might Be Giants - Mink Car
9. Prince - Take Me With U

How appropriate that this contest be ended with those numbers.

Good show, Noise. It's not actually MINK CAR but MY MAN (thus the sex connection-- "My man, how can he stand?" Odd that I have 2 songs in here about not being able to get it up... if I were a guy you'd all be entitlted to speculate!)

So, the Prince tune was the one not explicitly about sex, though that is a damn sexy verse, I think, and what, in Prince, is not?

Thank you for playing.

Noise gets a $10 gift certificate to the Selfmademug gift shop, the Boy gets a $5 one, and my posse of Pip, Buns, Whtesde & the Ropester get Selfmademug lapel pins, suitable for those of you with tongue piecings or a shortage of thumbtacks. Or naked lapels.
