Curious as to the average age of the fans who frequent the board. Do you remember that stunt on SNL in 77? Did you "discover" him first with
WIWC?

I am 46. Yes, I remember the SNL stunt well, as I watched the original broadcast at my former Brother in Laws house. He wanted me to tell him what Elvis was so worked up about, mugging to the camera and all. It wasn't until later that we all understood that he was mugging past the camera directly to Lorne, and the rest is history.

Sadly, or fortunately, I was there for the original broadcast. It took a lotta balls for Elvis to tamper with the sanctity of the live broadcast and go against the rules laid down by Lorne and the producers of the show. It would have been the death of a lesser artist.

Frankly, the more I learned about the event, the more I was attracted to the band.

It worked, risky as it was.

That must have been both sad and unfortunate to have been there at such an event

I remember this type of discussion some time ago - I'm guessing it was on Narb's board because I tried to go back in the log and find it but could not. Most people who were board members then spilled the beans on their ages, but for our new member - welcome, by the way - I'll be 40 this August.

If it matters, I still feel 19 inside though.

And, at the risk of repeating what a lot of you have heard before, I remember hearing Elvis for years, but only had my epiphany of loving his music about a year ago. My husband has been a fan since the beginning and loves that I love EC now.

Clarification: I wasn't physically in the audience. watched the actual live broadcast. The fortunate part was that it represents live tv history. The sad part is that it serves as a marker to my age.

Thus, sad and fortunate, paradoxically.

Why are you making me do math? Surely it would have been easier to just put age ranges.

52 next month...

although with two young boys aged 5 and 2 (now there's some weird sort of synchronicity for you), the age I feel can vary from 18 to 68.

Just a few months shy of 45.

I remember being deeply immersed in MAIT by the time of the SNL broadcast. What an event! Remember, this was pre-VCR boom so we all thought that what we had just witnessed would probably be lost forever as it was unlikely that NBC would rerun the episode anytime soon. (Which I believe they did rerun just months later!)
