Re: Elvis 'memoir' now due March 2015
Nov. 2015 is the latest date for Elvis's book, according to this info from The Frankfurt Rights Guide
http://www.bardonchinese.com/admin/down ... 30f0e1.pdf
John Kelly told me in August that Elvis was 'busy' writing (everyday!) the book.

Books in 2015: A look-ahead
Clear space on your shelves or fire up your e-readers for the publishing highlights of 2015.
(...)
On the non-fiction front, there are anniversaries aplenty, with several titles commemorating two battles, Waterloo and Gallipoli. Magna Carta, signed 800 years ago, is the subject of a new book from the historian David Starkey. And the centenary of the Women's Institute is marked in The WI Cookbook.
There are biographies of Lewis Caroll, marking the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, and TS Eliot, 50 years after his death.
The writers John le Carre and Charlotte Bronte are the subject of new books, as is The Kinks frontman Ray Davies. Eric Clapton is also the subject of a biography, released to coincide with his 70th birthday.
There is a memoir by Elvis Costello, in which he tells the story of his 40-year career. And the playwright Sir David Hare David Hare is reflecting on his life in The Blue Touch Paper.

Re: Elvis 'memoir' now due November 2015
When it does finally come out I wonder if there'll be some sort of limited edition set at an exorbitant price. Elvis will then say it's a waste of money and then put a list of books that you should spend your money on instead.
Now that would be novel (see what I did there? )

The book will feature 'anecdotes about family and fellow musicians'

Elvis Costello Penning Memoir 'Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink'
"This is his story, written himself, rich with anecdotes about family and fellow musicians, introspective about the creation of his famous songs," Penguin Publishers say of rocker's tome
The man who penned "Everyday I Write the Book" has officially penned one himself. Elvis Costello's "unconventional but indelible memoir" Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink will arrive on October 13th, with the tome available as both a hardcover and an audiobook. Fans can pre-order now at the Penguin site.
The book will find the My Aim Is True rocker looking back at his five-decade career over the course of the memoir's 352 pages. "This is his story, written himself, rich with anecdotes about family and fellow musicians, introspective about the creation of his famous songs," Penguin Publishing wrote in their overview of the autobiography.
While this might be Costello's first official memoir, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer previously penned a 60,000-word reflection on his music and career in 2001 when Rhino reissued his 1977-1996 catalog. As Slate reported, a personal essay by Costello was packed in the liner notes of each album – 17 in all – but those reissues are long out-of-print and the essays were never officially republished. It's unknown whether Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink will repurpose those essays or if the memoir is a completely new work.
Perhaps inspired by his endeavor as an author, Costello's latest concerts, including his most recent gig March 18th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has featured the singer interspersing his personal stories between the songs, creating a quasi-Storytellers feel to the performance.
Before Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink hits shelves, Costello and the Impostors will hit the road with Steely Dan for a joint trek this summer.

I don't have any of the reissues. But thanks to everyone who contributed, I can still read all of those liner notes at the EC wiki site. They are fantastic sources of information. As far as I can tell, there are two missing links:While this might be Costello's first official memoir, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer previously penned a 60,000-word reflection on his music and career in 2001 when Rhino reissued his 1977-1996 catalog. After the cliched , error riddled statement that featured in a recent promo. piece from Penguin USA , it looks like Elvis decided to write a piece himself -
' The long-awaited and greatly anticipated memoir by one of the music world’s most iconic and influential performers and songwriters, Elvis Costello, will publish in Fall 2015.
March 31, 2015 (New York, NY) – Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink, by Elvis Costello, will be published in Fall 2015 around the world. The jacket image was revealed by Blue Rider Press today.
Mr. Costello’s publishers include: Blue Rider Press (North America), Penguin UK (Great Britain and Commonwealth), Bruna (Holland), Berlin Verlag (Germany) and Norstedts (Sweden).
Born Declan Patrick MacManus, Elvis Costello was raised in London and Liverpool, grandson of a trumpet player on the White Star Line and son of a jazz musician who became a successful radio dance band vocalist. Costello went into the family business and had taken the popular music world by storm before he was twenty-four.
Costello continues to add to one of the most intriguing and extensive songbooks of the day. His performances have taken him from a cardboard guitar in his front room to fronting a rock and roll band on your television screen and performing in the world's greatest concert halls in a wild variety of company. “Unfaithful Music” describes how Costello's career has somehow endured for almost four decades through a combination of dumb luck and animal cunning, even managing the occasional absurd episode of pop stardom.
The memoir, written entirely by Costello himself, offers his unique view of his unlikely and sometimes comical rise to international success, with diversions through the previously undocumented emotional foundations of some of his best known songs and the hits of tomorrow. The book contains many stories and observations about his renowned co-writers and co-conspirators, though Costello also pauses along the way for considerations on the less appealing side of infamy.
Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink is destined to be a classic, idiosyncratic memoir of a singular man.'

I rather like that cover should it truly turn out to grace the book- the artist with his 'pen' and totally iconic and ironic in that one of the strongest lyrical observers of the latter half of the twentieth century when it comes to dissecting 'romance' and matters of the heart is posed within a hotel room apropos of 'unfaithfulness' as we have come to learn first hand over the decades from countless songs within his oeuvre.johnfoyle wrote:This cover -

Re: Elvis 'memoir' now due November 2015
Now that the book must surely be finished , how about writing some new songs, working with a heavy metal , funk or Cajun band ( or The Imposters) or a Steve Nieve album of love song covers and new stuff - now there are enough ideas for the next 5 years, eh Elvis ??
