Yes, the same guy as is in the Praise You clip is also featured on side B doing Rockafella Skank... apparently that was the thing that convinced Jonze to do the Praise You clip. Brilliant!!

I really want the Freaks and Geeks complete series DVD. Im trying to keep myself from shelling out for that until my birthday though. But I really want to.

Instead, I ended up buying the complete series DVD of HR Pufnstuf . . . whacked-out puppetry that I somehow find incredibly amusing. The weird, wild world of Sid and Marty Krofft is inexplicably compelling to me. Also got the Lost in Translation DVD not long ago . . .

My little sister had the Jack Wild lp when we were kids. She wouldn't stop playing the fucking thing. I hope the dvd comes with deleted scenes that include Witchey-Poo eating young Jimmy.

I didn't buy it (yet), but I rented the Concert For George DVD. Very nice, very moving tribute, and not maudlin at all; I did, however, weep throughout because that's the kind of person I am.

Anyway, I'm about to launch into a boring story, so be forewarned. Our 8-year-old daughter was watching with us, and now she wants a sitar, bless her, and spent the weekend with a plastic jewel stuck to her forehead. She asked why I was sad, and we told her a little about how important the Beatles were and what they meant to people, blah, blah, blah. The next day, while on a Beatles binge, we were listening to Sgt. Pepper's, and when Within You Without You came on, she commented that it must have been written by George Harrison. I was so proud! Then for mother's day, she gave me a George Harrison Greatest Hits CD, which she picked out by herself and paid for with her own money. She is the coolest 8-year-old I know.

Netflix is sending The Beatles: First US Visit, as Mug recommended, and per the child's request, so the Beatlemania continues.

Yes, I liked that very much - entertaining and unsettling at the same time.

If you haven't seen it already, let me recommend you also try and see Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away - in my opinion, the best piece of animated work on the planet (at least until his next feature Howl's Moving Castle is released later this year).

I finally got Stop Making Sense (what became of Hungup?). Bit disappointed to see there appear to be no extras, just the songs, but the film itse;f is more than you could ever need. So with the Once In A Lifetime box set and this, I'm all set up. Ain't had a chance to look at it yet. It's only £7 in Fopp, as it was lst year, before I had a player. I thought I'd get it once I got the player, but until now they just haven't had it in stock at all and everywhere else charges a lot more. I saw the original several times at the cinema. Fabulous.

Not really a new DVD mention, but just some useless information for anyone who might have been a fan of Pee Wee's Playhouse. Apparently all 45 episodes (including 6 "lost" episodes) are to be released on DVD later this year. See this link for more information.

I must have slept through the release of Simpsons, Season 4. My kids had to be the ones to tell me about it.

They've worn out Seasons 1-3, so I guess I'll be heading out to buy that.

Oh hooRAY! Damn those things are funny. My son and I have more or less worn out the two VHS tapes we have, and haven't wanted to spend any more PeeWee dollars until there were DVDs... which I feared might not appear at all given his Paul Ruebens's) name in the news.

Have I mentioned that all you Simpsons types MUST rent Rex the Runt? Why am I the only person to have seen these? They're fucking hilarious and subversive.

On the subject of subversive animation, has anyone seen The Happy Tree Friends? It's absolutely crackers...like a real life version of Itchy and Scratchy, basically cute woodland cartoon characters are the repeated victims of horrific injuries in a 3minute cartoon! My pal made me sit through 2 dvds worth the other morning, and although some are a bit 'meh'...lots are really funny, with nice animation too!
