Same thing, I'm afraid.so lacklustre wrote:Slower for me recently and I'm also getting thisall the time.lately I'd been noticing that when I would click on a post it sometimes would take ages to load or fail to load altogether. If I then clicked the browser toolbar button to stop loading the page and tried again, it usually resolved the issue. Strange.
Actually, it took three attempts to make this post.

I have the same issue inside our network. It appears that the firewall/router is overloaded with concurrent connections. There is no way to increase them and I can't seem to find a new firewall/router on a Sunday which is better than what I have.
I am trying to figure out a way to unhook the firewall/router as a test.

OK .. so things look better with the new firewall/router.
I have to get things back to a maintainable point and return the borrowed cable modem with uncapped bandwidth. As of 10:15 Central Time, we are back to the old cable modem and thus the old bandwidth. Let's see how this goes.
If we really need the higher bandwidth, then I will either have to buy more or block enough people downloading pictures to make it up. But so far, I have seen little that indicates we are consistently using more than 50% of the bandwidth for extended periods.
Reports wanted.

It is not anything anyone on the board is doing. It is like a myspace page or blog that includes pictures and uses a direct linking to an image hosted here. Most of the pictures posted on the board actually are linking to pictures hosted on other sites so we don't see the problem.mood swung wrote:Is that posting pictures here, doc, or grabbing them from here and posting them elsewhere or both? I'd be happy to stop posting pictures if it helps.
As best I can tell, even allowing these deep links isn't causing us a problem yet. I have been watching our bandwidth usage closely and we are in the 30-40% range most of the time with periods of 50-60% usage.
Please don't change how you are using the board. In fact, it is cool and appropriate to link images from elviscostello.info here.

Now it is time for the next step. We survived almost 24 hours using the new firewall/router and our regular bandwidth limits. Now I need to get the kids' computer back on the net. I had removed it earlier to reduce variables.
So as of 6:30 Central Time, there will be some minor network changes on this end which I hope/expect no one will be able to detect.
Let me know if t here are issues.
