Indeed. I'm tempted to let my team rot and let matters take care of themselves - that approach seems to have worked for MG and legman.so lacklustre wrote:Or Fantasy Baseball (this season)Who Shot Sam? wrote:Good, now we're on a roll.

Like me, the "g" is silent.

But I don't know a goalkeeper from a peacekeeper! A midfielder from a Prince Fielder!mood swung wrote:

Now, Fantasy Footsy, I think I could manage.
Besides, my fantasy baseball team is just about all the humiliation I can handle right now.

Well, I've heard of Pele, but I don't think he's playing anymore.
The only other players I've heard of are the ones of whom Moody sends me half-naked pictures in her ill-fated attempt to lure me in. Donovan Someone, and that little Kaka-licious boy, with whom, I must admit, she almost had me.
It would be over much sooner than a couple weeks for me, I'm afraid.

How about Posh Spice's husband? There's most of your midfield right there. Then you take a volatile Argie or two, some boring German, a hulking keeper from Eastern Europe, some African kid, a mercurial clogger and you're nearly home!Goody2Shoes wrote:Well, I've heard of Pele, but I don't think he's playing anymore.

BTW, Pompey Tom may be participating as well, if there are no objections. I'm trying to rope in as many clueless Yanks as possible to minimize the chances of me finishing last.

Wasn't it reported that at a Brand Beckham launch in the US, David was introduced as Derek Beckham?Who Shot Sam? wrote:How about Posh Spice's husband?
Goody - would a VG pretty please (with bells on) help swing your decision to join us?
And I predict a late Jackson/Otis/Gilli entrance ie being fashionably late (well, in time).
Who’s this kid with his mumbo jumbo?

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Once again the World Cup is mostly ignored here in the States. Unfortunately if we can't dominate the world in something, a lot of the pundits tend to denigrate it and don't really bother to try to understand the game. All of the soccer haters are starting to come out of the woodwork now. If I hear one more lame argument about nil-nil draws I think I'm gonna lose it. ESPN has a guy who knows next to nothing about the game - Dave O'Brien - leading their match commentary. I'm going to be watching the matches in German on Setanta instead.verbal gymnastics wrote:Wasn't it reported that at a Brand Beckham launch in the US, David was introduced as Derek Beckham?Who Shot Sam? wrote:How about Posh Spice's husband?

Yeah, but the general attitude of most sports media here is that America doesn't "do" the World Cup and that soccer is a sport for sissies. You hear particularly on ESPN, which is strange, considering that they are the network with the rights to the World Cup. Why would you go out of your way to denigrate your own product? Very strange.mood swung wrote:I have to disagree, Sam. The World Cup has arrived in Sevier County. My local paper (with a circulation of about 10k, maybe) printed a bracket. A full page bracket.
You Canadians are lucky - you get the coverage from England, right?

i have no idea why i opened this thread; i never have before. i don't believe i've ever opened the footy thread. and i find my name in this one (not my real name; my real name is Sven). and i find one of my ex-girlfriends sends porn over the net and another ex-girlfriend seems to enjoy that. i'm not gonna open this thread again. i thought this was a game for today's hyperactive children no longer capable of the patience required to grasp rules and strategy and hone complex skills needed for a sport, oh, say, baseball. there is a photo of people with weapons on page 1. fantasy footy means something entirely different to me. good day.
I'm not concerned about the very poor.
