I've liked all the Boomtown Rats songs mentioned, but here's my favorite -

Dusty Springfield - Just A Little Lovin
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey In The Jar
David Bowie - Teenage Wildlife
Marvin Gaye - Stubborn Kind Of Fellow
Boomtown Rats - (I Never Loved) Eva Braun
Joni Mitchell - Amelia
Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
Beatles - I'm So Tired
Monkees - Daydream Believer
Prince - WHEN U WERE MINE (how could someone take off raspberry beret!)
Everyone just needs to fuckin’ relax. Smoke more weed, the world is ending.

I get the i-know-good-songs-by-this-artist appeal of this thread but apart from that it's a bit disappointing to see songs I like just being replaced because someone comes along and thinks another one is better.

Yes, that's the idea of it! It's a revival of the infuriating tower scenario.

It doesn't get better and better, we just keep repeating mostly the same old stuff we like, much like the fave 20 threads.

We're just unimaginative losers. Hang on, though, I am an Emeritus Professor in what constitutes the Best of Bowie, and I have to inform you that Song to Bob Dylan to A New Career In A New Town is a huge improvement. STBD is fun enough as pastiche, and I have huge personal fondness for the LP I loved before the age of 10 whose words mystified me, but A New Career is a work of genius.

See, now I've inspired a bit of critical comment at least.
