Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018 -'only shows of 2018' !?!
After one day of going on sale to the public, the premium bundles and Price Level 1 tickets (i.e., the first five rows) and the limited cheap seats (the corners of the last few rows of the mezzanine) are now all sold out for ALL of the shows. However, none of the shows have completely sold out yet.

Thanks for your reportage, SoulForHire.
Do you happen to know if the Wynn holds acts to the 90-minute limit for show duration stated on the website?

Waiting at the checkout at Lidl I spotted this Danish confectionery. Interesting design!

You start a run of six shows in Las Vegas in February. What can people expect?
That’s called Now/Not Now. Detour was very much anecdotal, and then there was the Imperial Bedroom and Other Chambers tour, where we took a specific folio of songs and tried to find songs that naturally lived with them. In Now/Not Now, we have an opportunity to choose different songs from my catalog. There are always going to be half a dozen songs that everybody assumes are going to be in your show -- and you should be really glad. That’s a compliment. I fought that for some time, and I’m starting to get around to the way of thinking that I should show some gratitude for the fact that people still want to hear them and find the best way to play them. I’ve got a lot of new songs that I’ve never recorded. I don’t know how many of them I can put in there. In Vegas, they don’t want you to play too long. Instead of that being something inhibiting, maybe that’s a good pressure. People are used to 2-and-a-1/2 hour shows. What’s the 90-minute version of this?

The good thing about playing 90 minute shows for Elvis is that over the residency it gives him a good opportunity to really vary the set each night.

I wonder if we’ll hear why

Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018
I wouldn't want to walk into that hotel/casino. Wynn is a major tool (or so it seems based on his news quotes and recent allegations.) They should move the shows to San Franciso!!
Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018
The terse and nonspecific nature of the announcement suggests the venue was not the issue.

Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018
either not selling as anticipated.....I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and it was very quiet everywhere or 2, the fall out from the Wynn harassment issue?
I was hoping for a new city to see Elvis in and "celebrating" my 40th anniversary, March 1978 my first show

I'm not sure which lines other people are reading between, but I'm reading between these: http://www.elviscostellofans.com/phpBB3 ... 3#p7733805
My guess is the past week was spent trying to figure out if they could make the Vegas run work without a little bit of Toast. And then reconciling to the reality that they couldn't.
Best wishes to Chris for a swift and definitive diagnosis, easy treatment, and speedy recovery.

Me too. Fuck my life. The Wynn comped me one ticket and I was going to buy two more shows on StubHub. At least I didn't pay for any tickets.Shatteredmannequin wrote:Damn.

I am beyond disappointed, was looking forward to it so much. Why Elvis, WHY??????

Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018
Yes, it's disappointing, especially if you've booked flights, hotels etc.
But this does sound like some sort of unavoidable issue that wasn't taken lightly - either a serious moral reason or a serious personal reason.

Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018
I lived in Vegas for over 30 years. I still have a lot of family and friends there. I was trying to arrange a trip to LV to attend at least one of the shows. There are some pretty serious sexual misconduct allegations against Steve Wynn. I would think that has to be the reason.
Re: Elvis playing Vegas, Feb/March 2018
There would seem to be more proximate reasons for the cancelation, but I think the Wynn factor has to be the reason no hint of a reschedule was mentioned. I doubt there will be one.chickendinna wrote:I lived in Vegas for over 30 years. I still have a lot of family and friends there.
