errrr, a CLASSIC example of WHY I LOVE EBAY! this one WILL be acquired there for $4-5 and in my hands including shipping for way under $10 or it will NOT be here at all. obviously, my EC cash for the year is headed towards REVOLVER!!!! beware the reissue barrage continues. i've got it on vinyl nine years and clarksdale 10" too. and will this LH edition add something? nah!

I know that this is a Lost Highway series, so it's essentially unrelated, but I wish that EC would push for LP editions of he three records he NEVER RELEASED ON VINYL:

Brutal Youth
Kojak Variety
Painted From Memory

Surely, there is someone at Warners/Rhino, and someone at Universal, that he can talk to about getting a small vinyl run of each of these, yes?

I once posed this question to him back in 2002, when he was answering questions on the "Ask Elvis" section of his website, and it seemed to spark his interest. Surely if Mastersound can issue the early records, there must be some way of striking a deal for them to put out the ones that would fill the gaps in everyone's Costello vinyl collections...

I'm sure Brutal Youth would sound outstanding on vinyl played LOUD!!!
Did The Juliet Letters ever make it on vinyl ?If I had that on vinyl, I'd deliberately let it get dirty so it crackled and sounded like a 30s or 40s recording !

Lost Highway’s 10th Anniversary Clear Vinyl Box: BEWARE!

3 Nov. '11

peter posts -

Let me just say that Lost Highway Records in my book are at the top of the cutting edge of popular salt-of-the-earth type music right now!

This 20 Album Box Set (which has about 30 TRANSPARENT CLEAR VINYL records and 5 CD’s) looks great on paper and is a bloody steal at $292.00 shipped; all this music stands alone & ROCKS! It comes out officially on November 21, 2011 and there will only be 250 made.

The problem is that I’ve been collecting these month by month since January 2011, and I have had to return over 2/3′s of the titles because they were sickeningly warped (especially the ‘double record’ sets.) Sometimes I had to return them 3 times to get one that was flat enough where the mutha wouldn’t skip….even tracking at 3 grams! Other retailers have had the same problem. Nothing to do with shipping. They were obviously still too warm to shrink wrap. Since 1945 (when records were invented), you’d think they’d learn by now? A waste. A complete bloody waste. In the past, Lost Highway was doing very high quality 180 gram pressings for cheap. If you buy this box set, make sure you get a full guarantee, which I believe you do? I love the Clear Vinyl idea; I just wish they weren’t warped all the time.

As much as I love my ancient clear vinyl - looks as if on e.g. Linn Sondek Lp12 or great budget Pro-Ject etc it is revolving 'backwards - generally best analogue/best recorded sound is from proper analogue black vinyl ...

Funny how people buy now digitally-processed digitally mastered-digitally whatever on analogue vinyl (for digital, digital REALLY is best!!!).

May the music/e.g. Linn-Naim Pro-Ject-Marantz be with us.

And I won't even mention tubes-valves-bottles.
