Also near the end of PL&U too, I think.johnfoyle wrote:English Country Garden riff in 'Chelsea- yay!
Ha, ha, methinks he must have been a very angry young man back then! From what you're saying it seems he's mellowed a bit, but I still wouldn't fancy getting on the wrong side of him! Luck for me he was in a good mood when I met him after the Bournemouth gig. <Sighs... goes off into pleasant daydream, remembering EC putting his arm around me while a photo was taken.>Little Fool wrote:As regards the smiling issue, these days he is positively jovial and jocular compared to some performances I saw in the late 70's and early 80's.
In those days he was quite vitriolic and you almost thought that he hated his audience, all added to the atmosphere of the time I suppose. I have attended a number of gigs where a guitar was not in the right place or the sound wasn't 100% and you could just sense that some poor roadie or technician was really going to get it when the gig finished.

Anyone recognize the riff Steve plays during the band intro later in Chelsea?
I saw this at one of the recent gigs when the roadie brought out the wrong guitar.Little Fool wrote:I have attended a number of gigs where a guitar was not in the right place or the sound wasn't 100% and you could just sense that some poor roadie or technician was really going to get it when the gig finished.
When did that happen - I've been to quite a few shows at the Royal Albert Hall and I've never seen that.Little Fool wrote:That said, it was always exciting and high energy, even the Albert Hall gig when the crowd got out of hand and took the seats apart and started using the bases as frisbees !!!!!!!!!!
Difficult to imagine this sort of behavior at a current Costello gig
This hat looks great! I notice he has been wearing mostly lower end hipster straws. This fur felt has more of a vintage look to it which is much better IMO. I am a big time vintage hat collector and use to post as sabreman.Man out of Time wrote:A couple of photos from Cornbury, taken from Bob Harris's own website

An untypically plain hat for EC.
