R.E.M.

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Yes, read this news yesterday. Not entirely shocked given the state of the record industry business model today. Continued enslavement to re constituted Warner Brothers probably not to appealing as they would be forced to prove themselves all over again. Seem to have parted company amongst themselves most amicably. Echo your sentiment. Considerable number of highlights over a 30 some year career. Nice to go out on a high note for me with the last release, "Collapse Into Now".

The most conspicuous move for them to make. Until they then decide to record or play together again, that is. Which they probably will.

Good luck to them and stuff but I just don't believe that a band of their stature has much other reason to have to formally announce that they have split up.

They have made some great music over the years sad to see them go.
Green is one of my favourite albums of all time.

Sad to say I have only seen them live once and probably wont get the chance again.

Spun "Up" and "Murmur" back to back last night. Strange that it's even the same band.

It's a real loss, but I'm glad I got to see them on their last tour. It was a good show.
