And indeed it is. If there's one thing worse than people saying 'between you and I' (which is pretty understandable and forgiveable, and English is tricky in that respect), it's people who insist a split infinitive is wrong per se. there are many cases where an adverb sounds so much more harmonious placed there.

Split infinitives are fine, but "between" is a preposition, and I could be wrong, but I can't think of any case in which it would be okay to follow a preposition with "I." It bugs me more than people who say "Me and my mother went to the store," because you just know that people who say, "My mother picked my sister and I up" would correct people who say "Me and my mom went..."

it's bugging the shit out of me (I?) - is that correct???? my own grammar being a bit shaky, I thought this must be some kind of exception to them rules I were taught. Otis, MBA, somebody tell me!
oh, and on the radio this morning, a bank manager spoke of how the LARGEST MAJORITY of her employees had never worked in such a friendly environment.
