Doc in the Hospital
Today Doc began having numbness in his hands and face and when he went to get checked out, his blood pressure was 210/140. He spent most of the day in the ER, violently ill, and they have been keeping him doped up and trying to get his blood pressure down. I hope he will get to come home from the hospital tomorrow, but it depends on his progress.
I'm exhausted, and I had to leave him at the hospital to come home and check on the kids. Bless their hearts, they had been alone all day, fixed their own meals and managed not to destroy the house or each other.
I'm sure all your thoughts are with us. I just wanted to share this with you guys. He loves the board and works on it more than you guys know.

Oh crap, this is terrible, sorry to hear this Spooky - I hope he gets well soon, and gets to come home tomorrow. Im sure he will.
I , and Im sure all the others, appreciate all the time and effort he puts into keeping this place running as smoothly as it does, as an IT worker myself I realise how much time and energy it can take. Best wishes to you and your family and to the Doc for a speedy recovery.

echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load

Well, after a horrible night's sleep (which I fully expected), I will try to clean myself up and go back to the hospital. I just called him and he (although doped up still) answered the phone and said he thought he remembered a reading during the night of 135/75 or something close. If that's true, I am really hoping he gets to come home later today.
Obviously he is being put on blood pressure medicine for the indefinite future. His boss, who lovingly hung around the ER for hours yesterday, said he needs time away from work and that he had been begging him to do so. Doc is so Type-A and over-achieving though.
I just got off the phone with my mother-in-law and she said that his dad did this same thing at about this age. He's just going to have to slow down a bit.
I appreciate all your thoughts so much. More than you all know. I don't really know anything else for you guys to do except to keep posting your thoughts and good wishes here. Hopefully he will get to see them by this evening.
Thanks again, everyone.

Well, I'm happy to say that I am at home WITH my husband.
All tests were clear, although the EKG showed that this high blood pressure had been going on for a long time. Apparently he was very close to stroke level yesterday, so I am truly grateful that he is back here with me. He is now the proud owner of a bottle of daily blood pressure medicine and is happy to be alive and home.
I will be watching him closely. Thank you all so very much for your heartfelt concern. It meant so much to him when I showed him this thread and the posts that had been made. He was very moved.
Thanks again to you all.
