Translating

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Translating

Post by MegJS »

Just for fun.
Everyone knows about programmes for computer translating. I've got one on my computer and I usually use it for having fun. I nearly die laughing when I read how it translated another song or article. Costello lyrics are no exception...now I decided to translate some songs from English into Russian and then back. "To wind my watch" from Spooky Girlfriend turned into "to air my hours"! or "I want the girl who is helpless and sickly" And here is Tart:

Elvis Costello
Pie

Hear, that silver pipes will be a trill in the Arabian streets of Seville
Oranges slide in a dirty
And you select them
And a thin skin back leather(skin)
To a red fruit in limits

Chorus:
But aroma...
Pie
And aroma...
Pie
It something, what you thirst?
And you speak, that you only feel bitterness
When you know, that it - lie, lie, lie...

Outside of itself from a bush of a blackberry
There were blossoming cherries to break
There, in edge(territory) of the asphalt tempting tips of a finger
They paint your hand, press too difficultly
They will paint your lips...

But aroma...
Pie
And aroma...
Pie
It something, what you thirst?
' The companies, you speak, that you only feel bitterness
It would kill you to show us small sweet?

Chorus

Odd (Strange) where anything other does not grow
It something was similar to love which she(it) has chosen
Always an essence of a habit
When pity would make
She(It) erased that ????? without feeling
She(It) kept its(her) boots

Chorus

Nylon was hung up from a reference point
And the paint for a century a black seam reduced its(her) leg(foot)
Fishermen search for their networks
Also send their regrets
The mistake (Defect) lays there broken (broken)
She(It) spoke, whether " this some joke Is? "

But aroma...
Pie
Libraries filled up with failed ideas
There's nothing more for me there
I trust in tender ink and gentle airs

Same lyrics, but translated to Japanese and back courtesy of Alta Vista Translate:

Taruto.

The trumpet of the sharp silver make trill of according to Arabia,
of the Seville orange roll of the groove decides but choose those,
the skin the medium skin inquire about the solid thing in the red fruit is a taste.

There is Taruto and a taste... it is sharp,
unless you feel,
you entreat that to be something which is said,
it?
Lie knowing s, it reaches, is, only at the time of a certain bitterness?

But the blackberry bush and edge temptation of the asphalt fingertip where wild those pollute your hand,
in the hard publication, those your lip which it colors...
there was a flower of the cherry which it should crush excessively there,
there is a taste.

Is Taruto and a taste... that it is sharp you '
as for bitterness that feel that you kill in order a little to show sweetness in us and it is something which entreats
Cos which you say simply?

Chorus

what of repetition you are brought up and strange,
that sympathy has attached her to the body she where maintains with her shoes when doing that heel of the feeling which she always chooses creative ones of habit like the love where is something from the nail, stopped the chorus nylon of the repetition which in the place where it caught it searched send their nets their regrets which it moved the connection of the black of kohl under the fisherman of her foot,, but the insect being placed, being broken there, she spoke, "she is this joke of the kind which?

Take your pick for the new title, Taruto or Pie! Well I had a good chuckle, anyways. Surely they could be using better software that tells them 'is' is likely to be followed by an adjective, not a noun with omitted article. Then again, 'is' doesn't feature in the chorus here either!

Another one, please! How about Alibi?
