I hate snow. They called for near a foot yesterday but as usual the weather forcasters where wrong and we only got a couple of inches. So it was better than expected.

We got a about 1/2 inch last night. We don't see much snow around here - lots of cold, lots of rain, but not much snow.

Go ahead and laugh.

Looks like about between ten inches and a foot. I have to get out there later and start digging out. :(

Don't forget the (officially) gale-force winds! I have to say I love living somewhere where you can get some extreme weather...

It's snowing for the first time since the beginning of December.
Great timing as the school winter break starts in just a week. Let the kids have some fun in/with the snow.

Looks more like Beacon Hill to me!

We're meant to be getting a bit of snow tomorrow, Gilli. Nothing like the above, though!

Wow, I guess we missed the worst of it. My son Kieran had a blast playing in the snow this morning, but it was less than a foot, for sure.

If we're gonna get a big storm, I'd much rather have it on a weekend. Our little town shuts down for the day - no cars driving by, and it's not until late in the evening, after the storm has passed, that the snowplows come. Just peace and quiet. I made chicken marsala, we did some odds and ends around the house, and I watched "The Cooler" with my wife after the kiddies drifted off to La-La Land. I love winter.

WHAR: nothing freezes my nuts quite like thigh high snow. That looks absolutely miserable.

Spooky: In my 9 years in GA it snowed once. It was almost an inch. Schools were closed for 2 days.

Well, needless to say the piddly 1/2 inch we had was melted before the morning hours were over. It's so romantic-like in those small amounts, but not like the thigh-high, nut-freezing stuff they have up north. You guys can have that!

Stay warm all you northerners!

You forgot to mention how cold it is though Gilli.

We had a three minute flurry this morning and now it's just back to being cold. Very cold. And windy.

LC - have you Scots had a McFlurry?

12 degrees f. right now, in the sun. (-11 c.) But feels like -6 with the wind-chill factor. Not a cloud in the sky, very few cars on the road. Many of us don't have to go to work/school... weeeee!

Nothin' like a snowday, with coffee and pancakes. Ahhhhh....

Give that boy a big hug from me, Mug, and ya'll stay warm! I'd make pancakes for you guys if I were there. I'd even use the new dinosaur shapes from Williams-Sonoma that I got Justin for Christmas. :)

MMMMM, spooky pancakes. I can offer some real Vermont Maple Syrup
selfmademug

Post by selfmademug »

The pancakes were solo, but delish. With butter, real maple syrup (is there another kind? 8) ) and hot black coffee. Single digit temps, icicles shining in full sun, feet of snow. I do love New England, I gotta say.

As Jonathan Richman sings:

I've already been to Paris, already been to Rome
But what'd I do but miss my home?
Oh-OH New England.

Well I've seen old Israel's arid plain
It's magnificent but-- so's Maine!
Oh-OH New England.

Where are you located up there? We have family in Alton NH

Oh and away from New England you will find all kinds of "other" types of what was formerly syrup.

Actually, I know the stuff quite well. I'm from New Jersey, home of processed food and disposable everything, and I grew up with "Vermont Maid" (um, ewwww) on rock-hard frozen waffles.

I live in the City of Boston. And now eat Vermont-made as opposed to, well that other stuff. (At IHOP it's called "Pancake Syrup", so perhaps it's made of pancakes?)

PS-- isn't Alton where the big biker rally is?

My mother was raised in Jersey....and her brother still will eat anything, claiming "I'm from Jersey - if I can survive that, I can survive ______"

I've never been, but I do wonder...

[Edit: I guess that's a lie, I *have* been to Jersey. Stayed in Secaucus during my last visit to NYC..the only negative part I remember was getting stuck on the NJ Turnpike trying to find my way out of town....]
