Get Back by Oliver's Army accepted

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Get Back by Oliver's Army accepted

Post by noiseradio »

ADV films accepted our submission of an original song, "Get Back" for promotional spots for their show "The Get Backers." It's an anime series which has a fairly rabid following in the States. The song is to be featured in previews and TV spots for the release. So, if you see a preview of a commercial for an anime fil called the Get Backers, that's Oliver's Army.

We're now under contract with ADV, and we will likely be asked to submit further songs for other titles.

I was already in a tribute band, and now I'm doing songs for anime... How much of a geek does that make me?

Thanks El Vez and Gilli for your kind words. I'm really proud of the group.

I think there are a few regional acts called "Oliver's Army." I know there was one in Lincoln, Nebraska for a while. For these purposes, we had to register our name in a national register, so that no one else could come along later and use it on the national level. But tat doesn't prevent local bands anywhere from using the same name. You can have a local bar band called the Beatles if you want. It's not as if we were the first blokes to think of calling ourselves Oliver's Army anyway. We may try to think of a different name for this kind of work, since the Oliver's Army moniker is so obviously attached to the tribute band idea and this is original work. We'll see what happens.

Congratulations, noise! If you ever need a suggestion for a band name, I thought up a bunch while I was drunk the other night. But the only one I remember is: The Bashful.

Congratulations!!!...and you can have my band name if you really want, as I've mentioned before, it's "Various Artists", however, if you accept that name you must also name your first album "Greatest Hits."

Firstly, big, bIG, BIG congats to Noiseradio!!

Bobster... I hate to scare you, but I think we must be on the same wavelength. Many years ago I suggested to a friend that he name his band Various Artists... he did so, and they were a miserable flop

I guess that, like naming a band Free Beer, you can only end up with hoards of disgruntled punters who expected to be confronted with a whole raft of performers.

Bands I were in had names like "Rusty Romeos" (thank you Three Stooges), "Los Dislocados", "Pet Rocks" and "The Tenants". Of course, Noise is welcome to any of them :P
