I, finally, bow down to "Get Happy!!"

Post by wehitandrun »

Okay, I'll be honest... "Get Happy!!" has been the main album I've been listening to for just over two months now. During that time, I've been arguing against it on here in its little matchups against "Armed Forces". I am here to admit that "Get Happy!!" has over 1,000 plays since the start of April. I listen to it when I shower, I listen to it at school, I listen to it while I type, I listen to it while I walk home.

Get Happy!! has finally overtaken me.

001. Get Happy!!
002. Armed Forces
003. This Year's Model
004. Imperial Bedroom
005. Trust
(006. blood and chocolate
007. mighty like a rose)

I've developed a theory, that apparently only applies to us.

"Get Happy!!" is hard to accept at first, when you've got the more accessible "This Year's Model" and "Armed Forces" in heavy rotation. In time, "Get Happy!!" will fight its way into your playtime, and it will surely take over.

Just you wait. "New Amsterdam" and "Opportunity" started it for me, then "King Horse" and "Riot Act"... and pretty soon the whole album.

It took quite some time for me to really get into Get Happy too but once it sank in, I couldn't stop listening. It's easily in my Top 3 Costello albums.

I was beginning to think I was the only person not to love this cd on first listen. Finally, we surface.

Has any of you heard the bootleg version of King Horse ( EC and the Attractions are live in Austin)? It starts with Backstabbers and goes into King Horse. It was the Punch The Clock Tour w/ lots of brass. Unbelievably eggzellent!

The album takes on considerably more signifigance when you realize that the sessions were recorded during Elvis's infamous auditions as "George" in the London, England production of "Beatlemania".

While the producers praised his almost "natural" Liverpudlian accent, they claim he showed disdain for the fab four, with his American "Woody Allensque" eye glasses, as well as an exuberance unbecoming of "The Quiet Beatle".

Wait, did you just mean to type "the bull show," or the "bull shit"?

Freudian slips all over the place, man...

Hah, we posted those at the same time. But yes, "whole" show, I don't know how it happened. It is a great show, as well.
