Big Sister's Clothes - Does anybody know?

Post by ChokingOnMyPrideandPity »

I've always wondered why he put the line, "Nick Lowe not responsible for this one" next to Big Sister's Clothes.

Does anybody know?

My first assumption was Nick didn't like the song and didn't want it on the album. Maybe he liked "Big Sister" better and wanted THAT on the album. Or, maybe he just wasn't around when they recorded that one so Elvis didn't want him taking credit for it.

Or maybe it's something else.....

Does anyone know the story behind the Nick Lowe line?

I'm guessing it was one of the songs that Nick Lowe wasn't at the studio to produce.

Elvis produced the song himself in the studio, playing all the instruments (including the world's "first backward accordion". He is the producer, not Nick.

That's a great accomplishment, if you ask me.
It nearly took a mircacle to get you to stay
It only took my little finger to blow you away.

It sounds like the instrument is being thrown down a flight of stairs.

Well, that's Elvis's description anyway.
