Elvis was still fighting a virus but was in powerful voice, and provided the Clearwater audience with a generous and varied set. Fans were able to meet with EC after the show when despite the cold temperatures and a looming engagement in Tampa he patiently signed albums, posed for pictures, and greeted concert goers. Lapinsjolis had the longest conversation with Elvis, Snarling Pup had the honor of also meeting il maestro Steve Nieve, and I was content with an EC handshake.

Good varied set. What was Mystery Dance like?

And it looks like the power of the board has taken over Elvis' life! Come on then lapins, spill the beans :)

It's interesting to see that he's only doing 4 or 5 songs from North compared to all 11 during his European tour before Christmas.

Wow. Certainly a better list than Jax. Would have traded Rocking Horse Road/Inch by Inch/Mystery Dance for Alison/Pump It Up/Watching the Detectives any day of the week. Well, I'm off to Tampa today so maybe I'll have the chance. My guess is that he'll try to be different from Clearwater since it's only like a 1/2 hour away.

Here's a review from the newspaper.

I agree it was a fine show. For me the standout was "Either Side of the Same Town", a powerful number just begging for release of EC's own version. SD and RHR were also welcome additions to the setlist. I hope he does "Sleep of the Just" tonight....

Steve indicated that his solo disc "Mumu" is going to be re-released soon from BMG. Not sure if there will be a US edition this time. Copies of his latest "Windows" were available at the show for 20 bucks, as promised.

Overall this was a substantially better set than the previous night in Jax. Tonight will be even more different since he knows that many will go to both shows on the Gulf coast. How lucky is Florida to get Elvis for four shows to kick off the tour? I lived there for ten years and always had to fly out of state to see him. '84 to '99 he didn't set foot in the Sunshine State!
I can't remember being any younger.

Wow, Mr. Mis, sounds wonderful. I'm so excited to see him next week, and I know he is kind about meeting people after the show, but I feel like a giddy little school girl about approaching him.

Verbal Gymnastics-No tale to tell. We exchanged pleasantries as he held my hand. A wonderfully soft hand! He was gracious and patient. I didn't want to keep him as many people were making demands it was cold and he was ill-poor lamb! It was wonderful to get so close and he was adorable wrapped up in his scarf.

Spooky Girlfriend-I felt silly too but you really should try!

The show was brilliant and inspired. He was so generous and sounded amazing. Steve Nieve was glorious as well.

I had the great pleasure of sharing the experience with the charming Mr. Misery and Snarling Pup. It's wonderful to meet up with you fellow Elvis fans. Great to meet you Snarling Pup.

I took my camera but both of the gentleman in question were too shy to ask for a picture. . .me too! He's the only one I managed.

Great pic lapinsjolis! I'm gulping as I type. I'll try to get the courage. Perhaps Moody and I can push each other up there.

But, then again, DrS has been a fan much longer than myself, so he will probably drag us all up there. :)

LJ, he looks like Mr. Magoo! "Aw, so where's that piece of paper I gotta sign?"

It hardly captures him, true. Still even with a Mr. Magoo air I wish for him to look for lips to kiss rather than paper to sign. Sigh!

That's a very fine review from the Tampa paper, with an apt appreciation of some of the many wonderful advantages of seeing the Man perform. Of course, I give props to any article about EC which omits the word "punk" and includes nary a mention of not being angry anymore . . . . .

There's just one nit to pick, which is that the title is "Shot with His Own Gun," not "Shot by . . . ."

No kidding. I feel like I could do some of those interviews for him, they all sound so much alike. He's got a helluva lot of patience to explain his 'surprising' path again and again ad nauseum. Maybe they shouldn't be surprised anymore???
