Elvis Costello is scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards

Post by johnfoyle »

This is hidden away in the latest e-mail to come from that Fanscape thingy that our `leader` Kate is part of ; don`t think I`ve seen it stated so specifically before.

http://www.fanscape.com/home/artists.as ... LO&mid=796

Elvis Costello is scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards on February 8th!

and I'd stopped reading Kate's messages because I felt so pressured! at least I have a good excuse to indulge in the grammys again. (really I just watch to see what everyone is wearing. or not.) wonder if pete and davey and steve will be there as well. maybe these clandestine recording sessions have got them all realizing how much they miss playing together, so they'll go on the road and when I get to the Ryman 2/24, Elvis will be his own opening act. Brodskys in the first half, Imposters in the second.

a girl can dream.

Elvis is performing at the Grammys? Is he even nominated for anything?

I BET HE'S PART OF THE BEATLES TRIBUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even with ALL OF THE CRAP they put on at the Grammy's, they always find ONE LITTLE THING to make me watch it. It usually involves either the Beatles or elvis, or BOTH!

whoopee!

According to the Costello Listserv, he's performing in a tribute to Sting (with a bunch of other people including Diana Krall):
Elvis will be appearing at the Grammy Awards this
coming Sunday night,
February 8, in a performance tribute to Sting,
recipient of the 2004
MusicCares Person Of The Year award. More info:

http://www.grammy.com/news/academy/2004 ... erf02.aspx
And according to this place

http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/ ... ies-1.html

North is up for best engineer, non-classical.

Oh, no, no no, no.!!!

I want EC to be playing Beatles tunes...not singing "Every Breath You Take." (I know that's the Police, knock it off already!!)

Really!! I demand the Beatles!

I think someone is mixing up their tributes...EC plays the Sting tribute at a Music Cares event on Friday night...Sunday is the grammys, and not a Sting Thing. I'm hoping.... I don't know that I'm ready to hear him sing Sting tunes....it's all just so sudden!!

Maybe they're reforming the Police but with Elvis as Andy Summers and Pete Thomas as Stewart Copeland.

It would be good if they could then replace Sting with Bruce Thomas (or Davey Farragher).

They would be scheduled to play some Police numbers. Elvis would then say "Ladies and Gentlemen, there's no reason to be playing these songs" and launch into Radio Radio.

What are the chances...

Ya know, it's possible that he'll be performing during a part that's not televised. The ceremony actually starts a few hours before the television show begins.

Anyone know if this will be on telly in the UK? I checked around, but to no avail....thinking maybe it will be on BBC4 (''everybody needs a place to sack their director-general'') or something.

I'd like to see EC sing 'Come together'....that'd be ace!

I bet he sings "When We Dance."

I hate that song.

Okay, apparently there is going to be a Beatles tribute and a Warren Zevon tribute. Sting is participating in the Beatles tribute. Are we sure Elvis isn't participating in that same Beatles tribute? I don't think they are honouring Sting.

i'd be very surprised if he sang a Sting tribute - he can't stand him or the Police from my recollection. He also took the piss out of him in 'How to be Dumb'.

I'd prefer Elvis singing a Police tune instead of a Sting song..

But, if he wanted to forever fix this truce between the Beatles and I ....

He could sing Michelle....

That would surely make it all better.....

(emoticon of love here)
