Elvis on Kilborn show

Post by johnfoyle »

Just seen this on the messageboard of `Kates`
Fancape `Costello Team site ; forgive my ignorance but
does that mean tonight`s (Nov.20) appearance was taped
last week (Nov.14)?

Kilborn Taping -

for those of you who were, i'm the one who got up and
told the lame joke about the dyslexic policeman.
and who ended up getting the signed copy of North,
which i immediately popped into my stereo once i got
into my car for the drive home.

i think elvis's performance of "let me tell you about
her" was just beautiful and fantastic and could never
be duplicated. i do think the show could've benefited
from an interview with the man, but alas, there was
none.

cheers to those who were there
and to those who'll be watching at home - you'll be
pleased.

Dunno, sounds like it might be the case, should be able to tell by the monologue/references he makes...if he talks about Michael I-did-not have sex with that boy-Jackson, we'll know!

An mp3s of this performance is available at
http://www.geocities.com/L_Elvis_Cool_J/
Please be patient since it can only handle 2 people downloading from it at any one time. It will be available for a while.

Sat thru the entire show last night, many references made to Elvis & his prolific songwriting, but no interview, nothing except his performance at the end of the show.

Great performance, though.

Yeah Sulky, GREAT performance. And that's ok about the interview....I was surprised that Conan wasn't a better interviewer....

Kilborn has wit, style, and grace...all of the things that, when unmanaged, go straight to his head and render him an egomaniacal asshole. He consummed precious time by talking about his own celebrity ad nauseum (more and more common as they have had to go to the wide angle lens for close-up's of his cranium) before he ever got to Elvis. Thus, a potentially magical night was lost in a swirl of Kilborn self aggrandizement.

Elvis was cheated the respect he deserves while Craig gushed all over himelf. He has become a modern day Arther Fonzorelli, and his self-ordained ultra-hipnitude is killing the show. It certainly was never more apparant than the Costello appearance, where, clearly, Craig has him rated at about the level of Delbert McClinton, Jimmy Buffet, and Stevie Wonder as a songwriter and lyricist.
