Welcome DrSpooky
Well, everyone, my exposure to Elvis comes from my husband. He patiently waited for years until I had my Elvis epiphany. He has been a fan from the beginning and it's because of him that I have all these wonderful EC cds to listen to now.
I have finally persuaded him to join us here, so make him feel welcome. He has tagged along with me several times this year to meet up with various board members, and has listened to me ramble on and on about this site.
To my DrSpooky - thanks for bringing the love of Elvis to me! xoxo

Thanks Spooky for the thread and to everyone for welcoming me. I don't deserve most of the nice things she says.
As she has told many of you, I have been listening to EC a long time. I remember seeing him in the Scholastic newletter (Weekly Reader?)
in the sixth grade when he was a new artist and looked so much like
Buddy Holly. I proudly won the red vinyl 45 of My Funny Valentine on
VD 1979 and have bought every EC release I have seen since.
What does that toaster look like? Does it have a picture of EC on the side or play "Welcome to the Working Week" when your toast pops up? Sounds like a topic for a thread.
ElVez .. you aren't getting that $50. I drank it all.

Ah, the good doctor!
Spooky has helped me through some LOONG nights at work! This board is so wonderful, and it's great to have you on!
Congratulations on converting your significant other by the way!
It's so great to see couples posting together! It'll be a cold day in hell before mine joins an EC fan site I'm afraid...
Dr, it looks like you've been doing some great work for the site, and for the tribute cd. Thank you!

As with many on the board, it depends on my mood. I really was taken with
Taking Liberties when it came out. But the first time I saw EC was on the
Almost Blue tour at the Grand Old Opry House. He has such a wonderful
voice for country music that I really like it when he does that type of music.
TJL is a good listen. But I still think When I Was Cruel is fabulous Like Spooky
I love KOA.
I really like the song Seven Day Weekend but I don't think it ever made a
real EC album.
I am not a fan of North or the Anne Sofie von Otter work.
Not surprisingly, if Rob had been a girl he would have been Allison.
With just a few low moments, I think the entire catalog is fabulous and what
I listen too is mood dependent.

...and I was just starting to imagine that Spooky and yourself lived just such romantic lives (as in North)...
I've had Seven Day Weekend for years... from the Club Paradise soundtrack. I'm a big fan of Jimmy Cliff. I'm fairly sure the only other place it appeared on was Out Of Our Idiot., until The B&C reissue.

Bamboo.. I am sure we have it on Out of Our Idiot. And even though I am not a perfect husband and 4 kids make it hard to be romantic, I think we do well.
Crow .. we may actually be posting at the same time every now and then. She could be at home and me at work or we could just be on the two different computers at home (l am on the kids' PC now).
And Spooky's very much correct that the nerdy computer, non-blood and guts doctor type is for me. I had trouble dissecting in high school and never did like memorizing all those bones. I'm the spent too long in school to have common sense sort of doctor.
RedShoes.. I wasn't exactly kicking and screaming about joining the board. I just wanted to let Spooky have her space. I have really enjoyed meeting the people from the board with her.

Welcome from someone's who's mom's wishes he was a doctor (or, failing that, would marry one)....

I didn't so much mean that you were forced to join, moreso that the board called you to itDrSpooky wrote: RedShoes.. I wasn't exactly kicking and screaming about joining the board. I just wanted to let Spooky have her space. I have really enjoyed meeting the people from the board with her.
I too was worried about invading Blue's space in joining, but he convinced me he wouldn't mind

Red.. same situation with SG.. she will probably always post more than I do but she convinced me that I was not getting onto her turf. Not that I don't worship the turf she walks on.
oily..yummy six pack it was. It was nice to meet all of you when we finally recovered from that wrong turn. It hasn't been my year for navigation. I have certainly taken us on some routes that were not the best and when we were in DC, we nearly had a couple of rebellions when I walked the troops too far. Those subway thingies exist for a reason.

i will not tell them about spooky slapping the crap out of you and how you are required to worship that earth on which she steps and etc. you need a compass; you're gonna get killed. and pay no attention to ice nine, the artist formerly known as "the funniest person alive", as there is just no place for hemorroidal humor here. love, the jester
