What was #1 on the day you were born

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

What was #1 on the day you were born

Post by Spiritinthesky »

Have you ever done this?

Some people believe our lives are profoundly influenced by whatever pop song was #1 on the day we were born.

On the day Heather Mills (the ex Mrs McCartney) was born (12th Jan 1968) it was Hello Goodbye by The Beatles!

My number #1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia

See which songs you get

"Stand and Deliver" by Adam & The Ants (UK)
"Morning Train (Nine To Five)" by Sheena Easton (US & Australia)

Man... the early 80s sucked!
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Is it my connection or is it tediously slow to launch? ('completed 6 of 7 items') And you have to re-enter the date each time.

Rather disturbingly, number 1 round these parts was 'It's All Over Now' by the Stones. US had 'Rag Doll' by the Four Seasons, but Australia was far more satisfying with 'You're My World' by the one and only Cilla Black!

We've done who was born on the same day as you, but not seen this before. Actually, now that you mention it... I searched under their search function (http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/search_result) and was told House of the Rising Sun went to number 1 on this day, so their info isn't consistent.

The only info listed for my birthday was this:

The Quarry Men played at the Casbah Coffee Club, Liverpool. Ken Brown, suffering from a heavy cold was unable to perform and after the show, an argument started when Paul McCartney says that Brown should not get a share of the performance fee since he had not performed. Lennon and Harrison side with McCartney and Brown quits The Quarry Men.

Barry Gordy's first release on the newly established Motown Records, "Bad Girls" by The Miracles, entered the Billboard Pop chart.

No mention of what was #1!! :?

UK -The Right Stuff (You Got It) -New Kids on the Block
US- Blame It On The Rain -Milli Vanilli
AUS -If I Could Turn Back Time -Cher

Blue, take some solace in these shitty results. Milli Vanilli is the pinnacle of fail.
Why don't you write about it in your blag?

You're making Blue and I feel old! New Kids... the year you were *born*! Wow! :)

The songs Blue posted for my DOB are beyond awesome, btw. Especially "Shaddap You Face" - we played a sample from the iTunes store, and it's been stuck in my head for days.

Or is it a carrot? Pretty astonishing either way.

When I first saw Dickie Thon, I thought someone had defaced it in a way I remember doing with my 1974 Tiger & Scorcher annual, but then I realised it was his signature!

Picture me in a frat!

Dick Swett's from NH and his signs adorned lawns from Concord to Claremont when he was running for the US Senate back in the mid 90's - it was comical - to this day, several of my friends at any given time will blurt out, turrets like, "DICK SWETT!".

Do you think Copenhagen Fan ever ran into Dick Swett in Denmark?
