Rather disturbingly, number 1 round these parts was 'It's All Over Now' by the Stones. US had 'Rag Doll' by the Four Seasons, but Australia was far more satisfying with 'You're My World' by the one and only Cilla Black!

We've done who was born on the same day as you, but not seen this before. Actually, now that you mention it... I searched under their search function (http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/search_result) and was told House of the Rising Sun went to number 1 on this day, so their info isn't consistent.

Dick Swett's from NH and his signs adorned lawns from Concord to Claremont when he was running for the US Senate back in the mid 90's - it was comical - to this day, several of my friends at any given time will blurt out, turrets like, "DICK SWETT!".
