The Notorious KTJ granulates from high school tonight. That which does not kill me gives me panic attacks from hell.

Re: Random Thoughts
I have that Santogold song "LES Artistes" stuck in my head. My daughter likes it too. Something pleasingly new-wavish about it.

1. I am not a hockey fan, but being from Pgh I had to atleast watch the game. It was a fantastic game. Talk about the underdog rising up to the challenge.
2. Whatever happened to the 'Billy Jack' movies?

Re: Random Thoughts
Quick survey.
Suppose you have the following options for the upcoming weekend (Friday - Tuesday) :
1. go to Greece for 4-day business trip (in fact, mostly swimming in the hotel pools and sightseeing, including the Meteora)
[important note : you are allowed not to go on the trip]
OR
2.
a) on Sunday invite your closest friends over for a few pints and watch first ever Poland's game in EURO football tournament
b) on Monday watch your kids play in a school football competitions
Which would you choose ?
(this, of course, would also require you to imagine you are Polish and a football fan ; could be difficult )

Re: Random Thoughts
I would choose Option 2 for the following reasons:
Greece isn't going anywhere. However, you never know when Poland's football team will have this opportunity again. Also, the kids are growing and won't be playing football forever.
My two cents.

Gee, pophead gives some most awesome advice here - and is pretty on the money in my opinion.
Never thought about it that way, but Greece really *isn't* going anywhere.
Do what pophead says.

Let's hope there's a "next time" soon Blue and Red.
By the way, I'll probably take up the mantel as the lightwight drinker given my lack of drinking these days. Some weeks I only get out twice a week

Red - For you I'd go to the ends of the earth...
but at present there are not any plans for Mrs VG, Baby VG or myself to make it back to Toronto unfortunately
Mrs VG and I loved Canada when we were there on honeymoon.
But I am sure we will have that drink.

Re: Random Thoughts
Graduation tonight. It'd be a lot more exciting if my school had their shit together and everyone knew exactly what was going on. And my mortarboard makes me look like a goober. I think my hat is too big. And the collar was a pain in the ass, most seriously. And they told us at the last minute that we weren't allowed to wear heels, so my gown is 2 inches too long. And I had to go buy flats. At least they're cute. (Can't find a picture. ) So yes, graduation. Oy.

Wow, my graduation seems so so long ago (because it was)!
Eight years ago to the day I became a father, so we will be celebrating my daughter's b-day tonight with cake and lots of presents.

I take the word of pophead and spooky, however, that Greece will not be going anywhere.
And so I did stay home, no doubt stunning a few of my colleagues.spooky girlfriend wrote:Gee, pophead gives some most awesome advice here - and is pretty on the money in my opinion.

Re: Random Thoughts
Congrats from me as well StrictTime.
Were the boys straight laced, the girls frigid, the talk two faced and the rules rigid?
I look forward to seeing the pictures (even if you do look dorky which I'm sure you didn't )
And IP - pophead and spooky's advice were spot on. Glad you acted upon their wise words.
Mrs VG is talking about going away for a weekend with her girly mates which I thought was a fantastic idea. Until I realised it was without the baby VG, home alone with the baby - scary.

Re: Random Thoughts
Congrats, ST. I graduated high school in 2000, and I remember them seeing that as some sort of big deal (I suppose it was?). The weird thing was that our graduation ceremony wasn't until the fall... I guess since our school year ended so late and a lot of people were off to be camp counselors or something. So it was almost like a quick high school reunion, a few months into all of us starting college.
Way to go on being so well-versed in music, so well-read, and so articulate for someone your age. Things will only get better during college, when you'll realize that there are actually more people out there your age who listen to Tom Waits and read Vonnegut Hopefully you won't get tired of us when you do

Re: Random Thoughts
Thanks for the good wishes you guys! Everything went off well. I even got the chance to hug a good friend up on stage! I have maybe exactly one picture, so yeah. Hopefully it's presentable at some point. I'll be away tonight through Sunday evening, so don't expect it soon soon.
