the shortcut to indie rock snobbery

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

the shortcut to indie rock snobbery

Ooh, I was just browsing at othermusic.com, and for every band, they also list "Ancestors," "Descendants" and "Direct Relations." What a find.

Nice idea, but on the bands I looked at, the info was incredibly thin and feeble. Sounds like you had better luck. I tried Yo La Tengo, as if I was you, and that was the richest hit.

Wilco also managed to show that.

Speaking of Yo La Tengo? Has anybody ever heard that show from 2001 where Yo La Tengo served as Ray Davies' backing band? They played all sorts of obscure Kinks songs like "Animal Farm"

Yeah, I got prematurely excited when I looked up the Pastels. It's not as thrilling after that.

Well, the JR Ewing review got the context right, anyway.
if we can rock together, why can't we walk together?
