The you-like-THAT-song-by-that-artist game

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

How could it be anything but Sweet Caroline?

Another one for the must-buy list! Was playing and enjoying Making History at the weekend. Love the idea of good dub versions of the songs.

Well, Otis, I'm afraid you are.
Give us your favourite Giants' song then, and the new artist.

(Mech G: you've let me down!)

Funnily enough, I'm on CD2 of the tremendously wonderful 3CD reissue of Colossal Youth right now. Nice, suitably eulogistic notes by Simon Reynolds of 'Rip It Up' fame, which I really must get.

Final Day - YMG's apocalypse song, sounds like a weird nursery rhyme

I know one song by them! But I do like it quite a lot.

Shitloads Of Money. I always find the sympathy for the guy in the song funny.

Next, partly inspired by G2S's recent Hell Is For Children choice in the song titles thread and also because I had a PB cd in the car this week (I know which song I would choose, to be revealed later......<suspense>):

All Fired Up. Summer 1988 and it was by far the best thing on MuchMusic, Erica Ehm played it all the time.

Am I allowed "Who knows where the time goes?" which is Fairport Convention but written and sung by Sandy Denny.

If so:

"Love Plus One"

I only have Pelican West, but I like it. Is there anywhere to go next?

Calling Out For Love (At Crying Time). Because I like the guitar solo in the instrumental bridge.

All I know of is his cover version of The Kinks Starstruck. But it is an excellent cover.

I like this thread.

Indeed, very droll.

As for The Cars, Moving in Stereo always sounds good no matter how many times you hear it. Benjamin Orr sang on all the decent Cars songs, imo.

I wasn't being post modern or ironic. I like Billy Joel and think An Innocent Man is a great song. Nevermind.

Woops, sorry Dr J, picked you up wrong. I'm afraid I'm one of those musical snobs who feel Billy hasn't done anything decent since The Stranger, though The Nylon Curtain does have its moments. Anyway lets get back to the point of this thread. Does anyone have any favourite GLP songs? His new album is creeping up on me, must get a ticket for next months Village show.

I've seen all good people

They were the most popular band at school, though I never liked them. This is rather nifty, though, and reminds me of a drunken Friday night in my youth.

No problem! My love of the Innocent Man album is in part due to the fact that it was the first proper album I bought when I was 9. I thought The Longest |Time was a really cool song back then. The Nylon Curtain has some fantastic songs: Laura, Scandanavian Skies...

I wish I knew a song by Poco. Oh well...

Rose of Cimarron - Poco

Really one of the only songs I can say that I know by them. Makes me want to go on a road trip for some reason.

Disco 2000

Insanely catchy, and I just love the closing lines "Would you like to come and meet me maybe? You can even bring your baby followed by Ooh ooh/ooh/ooh/ooh / Ooh ooh/ooh/ooh/ooh ooh. :D
