Thin Lizzy....one of my all time favs! Phil Lynott was incredible, wish I had more time, I'll try to finish my thought on this later.

I was listening to the Black Rose album yesterday. Songs like "Got to Give It Up", "Get Out of Here", and "Do Anything You Want to Do" are staples in my record (cd) playing arsenal!

smg - I am enjoying that Uncut CD. I am not familiar with most of the tracks, but there are plenty of sitars etc. Dig out your beads and kaftan! This issue may have reached your shores already, as it is the June edition, which means it probably came out in early May!

Toke Vog, that's a great LP, especially for 3 bucks! Almost everythinbg the Heads did was brilliant, especially the first 5/6 LPs. So many favourites on that one - Warning Sign, Found A Job, The Big Country, all brilliant, and all still vital.

After last night, I am listening to Moz a lot. Ahhhh, Moz. People slated Ouija Board, but I love it so.

Eels - Beautiful Freak - bought shootenanny on drj's advice and loved it, so am now going to get the rest. On first listen I love this too.

I'm in the same boat, So Lacklustre. I try not to look at my record collection because it makes me sad. If I'd just win the lottery. But saturday's treat was Aimee Mann--Bachelor No. 2. Little cinnamon girl loves it. (the first song on it prominently featured one of those words I'm trying to keep out of her mouth). I like it too. And it is a judicious use of the word.

In the 3 for 20 pounds (I can't find the bloody pound symbol on my laptop!) deal I got Mann's 'Lost in Space', the Kinks' 'Ultimate' for my mother and the Gram Parsons cd Otis was going on about. Someone gave me Paul McCartney's 'Flaming Pie' so that's been in the cd player for the past 3 days. I've never cried whilst listening to a song for the first time but that happened when 'Little Willow' came on just as I was reading about why he wrote it. I only wanted to hear 'Calico Skies' again!

Well, I've been listening to loads of stuff (much of it on recs from you folks, thanks!) but I had to mention I've been listening to tracks from Liz Phair's forthcoming record, and can I just say, EEEEEEWWWW. Yuck.

The single is going to be a song called WHY CAN'T I, which has pretty good lyrics, but the tune and the production (!!) will make everyone say, oh, so is THIS the new Avril Lavigne release? The sad thing is, we've waited FOUR YEARS for this damn record. And I fear, from the sound of the six tracks I've heard, that it will suck. So, so sad.

Get used to the sound of this: Tonight's WB presentation of DAWSON'S CREEK featured songs by Liz Phair..." [Yes I know Dawson's Creek is off the air now, thank frikkin lord.]

'Little Willow was written after Paul learned of the death of a dear friend. He created the song not only as an immediate personal response to the sadness but, hopefully, as a salve for his late friend's children.'

"I wanted to somehow convey how much I thought of her. For her and her kids. It certainly is heartfelt and I hope it will help a bit."

I know two people who may take comfort if they listen to it.

Bunny-- that's so sad! But beautiful. WOuld love to hear it (I read the lyrics).

Oddly, there's a great set of lyrics on that new Liz Phair collection I was trashing above (it still sucks, but this is the best song on it) called LITTLE DIGGER, about a little boy whose parents are split up. Similar themes and title. Sample lyric:
