Movie Trivia Quiz

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Ok I waited long enough:

Walter Jack Palance.

But I couldn't begin to say who should get to ask the next question.

I wouldn't presume to be the entitled to ask...but I'll throw out an easy question to keep the ball rolling:

Name the three movies that have been released this year that were remakes of well-known old movies.

One from the 50s, one 60s & 1 70s.

Not TV remakes but movies. There may be more than 3, but name the three that are in my mind!

Which is another strong candidate for worst film to ever win Best Picture! I'm tempted to break my blood oat and spill the beans here on Richard's question because both The Ladykillers and Around The World In 80 Days are both from the 50's.

It may well be that Richard has different remakes in mind? Silly me actually didn't pay too much attention to his decades (doh!).

Actually, Renny Harlin's film is a needless prequel to The Excorcist.

well so there you go. Had I known Reny Harlin was involved, I would have skipped this one.

Yes - The Ladykillers (1955)

Yes - The Stepford Wives (1975)

The third one I was thinking of has still not been mentioned. I hadn't even thought of 'Around the World..'

Why thank you Martin... very decent of you old chap ;)

Ok, what I would consider a fairly easy question: which famous (read infamous) "heiress" had her acting debut alongside the likes of Johnny Depp, Ricky Lake and Iggy Pop in the sublime John Waters film "Cry Baby"?

Now, that's my territory.
It was Tracie Lords.

I do believe the fair Tracie 'acted' in a number of adult films before Cry Baby. Patty Hearst is the "heiress" who made her acting debut in that film.

We have a winner... indeed, it was Patty Hearst who went on to make a clutch of movies with the divine Mr Waters.

Ask away Martin.

Could it have been Total Recall? (although I doubt it somehow)

I have no frikkin idea but I like John Sayles a lot and the best Governator flick I can think of is T2, so I'll guess that....

Hints:Like his contributions to Apollo 13, it was uncredited and it was one of Arnies more recent films.

Right, Noise. I seem to recall mentions of his contributions before the film came out. I suspect a lot of Robert Duvalls lines came from John's pen. Desperate film all the same, slept through most of the middle, waking to find 2 Arnies running around the place and not caring which was which.

Yeah, forgettable film. And total guess (thanks for the hint).

What was the name of the short film that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell made to raise money for the making of The Evil Dead?
