What was the name of the acclaimed late 90's thriller that featured an unbilled cameo by the late, great Alec Guinness?

Actually, Mute Witness II: Electric Boogaloo Meets The Human Tornado is the full title but I'll go ahead and be a nice guy and give you the nod.

I don't deserve the nod. I was just grasping at straws there. You should ask another question.

Harold Lloyd, one of the great comedic actors of the silent film era, got his start in the movie biz playing a second-tier knockoff of Chaplin's immortal Little Tramp. What was the name of that character?

That would be Lonesome Luke, with tight pants instead of baggy ones. This was Lloyd's first recognizable onscreen persona. Of course, since it was the silent era, he had actually already made a dozen or so films, mostly bit parts. Great physical comedian, in spite of the knock off that Lonesome Luke clearly was.

Buster Keaton is still the best.

The floor is all yours, Noise. I think I'll sit the next few questions out so as not to risk becoming a thread hog.

What hit TV detective show did Stephen Spielberg direct a one-hour episode for right before getting tapped to direct Duel?

This film, about the hunt for a man carrying the plague, takes place in New Orleans (although it was somehow criminally neglected from the list of New Orleans films in Being There {the Blue Chair and Red Shoes webzine}). It also shares it's title with that of a Smiths song. Name the film and the stars and especially the name of the actor carrying the plague (a different first name than he has used through his career).

Pretty sure I know this one. But I will let someone else take a crack at it. If there's no correct response by tomorrow, I'll post what I think the answer is.

Probably off by a million miles here, but there was a TV movie in the 70s that I never saw with a title that was a little like "The Mephisto Bug"...no clue if it took place in NO or not. As far as the actor, I'm guessing Allan Garfield/Goorwitz, who never could decide on a last name.

'Panic on the streets of london
Panic on the streets of Birmingham'
The Smiths

Panic On the Streets
Dir.Elia Kazan

I don't recall who starred in it, but I recall the plot being the one you describe.

Perhaps someone else can complete the puzzle & take the glory?

If memory serves, the star of Panic In The Streets was none other than Richard Widmark. Criminally underrated actor.
