Tower of Song

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Chris Martin must be the flukiest singer in the history of music.

I switched on some dodgy Sky satellite music channel the other day and 'Trouble' was in their top 50 songs ever. Did I laugh.....

'Trouble' would definitely make my most boring top 10 and I wouldn't cross the street to see Coldplay :x

PS. Whilsrt I'm all for personal taste...being into nu-metal and Coldplay and hating Squeeze is very telling methinks

Don't take it personally, it's just how it is.

And I don't recall removing Fumbled Priest more than once, despite there having been several songs by them on the Tower thus far.
One Bleuch, two Blueches -- Blue and Red.

You needn't read so much into it Blue. Fumbled Priest never even existed.

Hah! Me and Norman buggering up the TOS not only by posting simultaneously, but the same band. How simultaneous can you get on a message board? As this is NB's first on the TOS, and my 97th, and as he was much more original with his choice than I (which of course is unknown to me), and as it was my fault for having a 5 minute gap before clicking submit, could the next person use the NB version of it, copied below, not mine? Thanks.

So Van stays and Al goes. I think the rules are you can't have two songs by the same artist in it, so it's the only way.

The Specials- Do Nothing
David Bowie- Sound and Vision
Tom Waits- Time
Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers- Pablo Picasso
The Clash- Lost in the Supermarket
Van Morrison- Sweet Thing
Woody Guthrie- Blowin' Down the Road (I Ain't Gonna Be Treated This Way)
The Kinks- I'm Not Like Everybody Else
Hoodoo Gurus- A Thousand Miles Away
Bob Dylan- Not Dark Yet

Otis, my friend, that is wild! I've been on a Kinks Kick lately, and I also love "Waterloo Sunset," so I'm fine with either choice as well.

It wasn't that funny, eh Doof?

And it would only have got less funny. Lucky I just brought the 'game' to an end before going on with it. You know, the one where 'we' would "keep inventing Fumbled Priest songs until everyone thinks they're a real band", and oh yeah "Perhaps we can really cut loose with this and invent album names/tour dates etc 8) "... And Otis, I don't know what to say since I don't know to what extent you may have been complicit or victim in Doof's scheming.

Signed,
Doof's friendly marionette :) .

Are there any rules besides replacing one song with another and not having two songs by the same artist and no EC?

And to think I spent over two hours scouring the shops looking hopefully under 'FU' in the CD racks.

Good job no-one (other than Tower scourges MBA and Poppet) is keen on the three picks rule. So, today's selection:

Out: Van the Man, seeing as I failed to evict him yesterday (though he is one of my heroes, honest)
In: Moz at his finest

Etta James - Tell Mama
Bob Marley - Stir It Up
Tom Waits - Time
Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers - Pablo Picasso
The Clash - Lost in the Supermarket
The Smiths - I Won't Share You
Woody Guthrie - Blowin' Down the Road (I Ain't Gonna Be Treated This Way)
The Kinks - I'm Not Like Everybody Else
Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell - Ain't Nothin' Like the Real Thing
The Band - The Weight

BBN: ouch! (Though some people would love that prospect.) As 'Fumbled' begins 'FU', I was saying the first two letters of that, cos that's what you search under.

Oily: love that. Nice to see a less obvious choice, and that's a great one from a great LP. Less obvious choices can often be your favourites, e.g. I Won't Share You, which I chose. I'm enjoying the fact that this time round there's more of a tendency for an ODBS than an OBDS!

Mr Boom: I know even loss of The Small Faces than I do of The Kinks. will ask the same question I asked of the latter: any recommended compilations, or perhaps starting straight in with an original LP?

For some reason, when I was 16/17 I was much more interested in the American 60s bands that had influenced my fave contemporaries, e.g. Velvets, Doors, than the Brits. I knew The Who, Kinks and Small Faces were cool, but I just never got my hands on it all.
