What are you listening to right now?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

I think the Kylie supporters have been blinded by this

Would it have been The Locomotion??!! That was memorable though, and not obnoxious imo.

I prefer Kylie to Madonna for me. And thanks for the pictures Mike - purely in the interests of stimulation (of discussion naturally!).

By pure coincidence my wife left the Kylie CD Fever in the car. So after I had finished listening to Franz Ferdinand (who were excellent last night by the way and thanks for asking!) I listened to this and loved it.

I've got a long drive today on business so I've put Billy Bragg Reaching to the Converted and Victim of Geography, Franz Ferdinand You Could Have It So Much Better and Kings of Leon Youth and Young Manhood on to listen to.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the above. You a big fan?

I'm in Paris, Les Bains Douches, 18 Dec '79. Joy Division live. 'Turn the foldback up, please!', then:

A change of style
A change of scene
With no regrets

Julianna Hatfields new record , Made in China. Very raw, very pissed off, very loud, very guitary and very fantastic.

I've always been Billy's fan, but that's when I got to know and liked Wilco as well.
IMHO excellent album. I thought they wrote great folky-country-rocky tunes for Guthrie's lyrics and everything worked brilliantly - the arrangements, the voices, the melodies, the humour.
Definitely one of my favourites.
Give it another listen, Otis !

Mermaid Avenue is a modern classic! "California Stars" in particular is a standout.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Cool-- I haven't listened to anything by her for years. Maybe I'll give it a go.

Will try. It often takes a few goes. I guess I listened with anticipation as it's so well talked of, and thought, 'and...?' Is it just the words that are Woodie's, none of the tunes?

Yes, only words are Woodie's. Most of the tunes - let me check in the booklet ... eight, to be precise - were written solely by Billy Bragg. Others are either Wilco or Bragg/Wilco compositions.
My favourite tracks are "Walt Whitman's Niece", "California Stars", "She Came Along To Me" (classic Billy Bragg), and "Hesitating Beauty" (which always makes me sing along).

"Too Much Rain"--one of the new Macca songs. I start each day with it. It's encouraging, like a letter from a friend.

Laugh when your eyes are burning
Smile when your heart is filled with pain
Sigh as you brush away your sorrow
Make a vow that's it's not going to happen again

It's not right, in one life
Too much rain

You know the wheels keep turning
Why do the tears run down your face
We use to hide away our feelings
But for now tell yourself it won't happen again

Smile when you're spinning round and round
Sigh as you think about tomorrow
Make a vow, that your gonna be happy again

It's all right, in your life
No more rain

It's too much for anyone, too hard for anyone
Who wants a happy and peaceful life
You've got to learn to laugh.

Get Behind Me Satan. I'm surprised the White Stripes don't get more press over here, actually. (And by "here," of course, I mean the Board.)

Mr. Misery, can you cite any obviously weaker song on the album? I can't.

I like the song and it cheered me up when I was very depressed but you certainly put me in my place, Bambooneedle.

Mr. Misery-

I won't ask you anything if you don't want me to. As for me apparently putting you in your place (I suspect you are refering to your Brilliant Disguise thread), I have no regrets.

I believe he meant that, having said he was enjoying a song a lot and that it was cheering him up, you turned around and said that it sucked.

What I am listening to right now: sound of my son telling me it's my turn at Pokemon. Has there ever been a more baffling game? Well, not to me there hasn't.

It's his 7th birthday today.
