The 70's British punk band The Pork Dukes, famed for songs like Telephone Masturbator, had a connection to a band that could be almost the antithesis of what they were about. What was that band and what was the connection?

As I have proved myself to be an utter dunce on this thread, and as a collolary to the truism that even a stopped clock is right twice a day, I hereby resolve to make the same guess at all future questions.

Googled it. That's a pretty funny story. Gotta love the trivia education in this thread.

Dang, another missed Bowie question, this is outrageous.

I think The Pork Dukes is another one of the Doof's invented bands.

Phil Collins, Genesis.

Wrong... this is fun. Time for a hint though, so... think along the lines of "hey nonny nonny"-ism.

Nope... I would hardly call PIL the antithesis of the Pork Dukes, nor "hey nonny nonny"-ists ;)

Hey nonny nonny? Shakespearean? English folkie, I guess. Er... Steeleye Span? They did a cover of All Around My Hat? The lead singer of steeleye Span used to masturbate on stage for them? Lord knows. Where's Gilli? She'll know. Has she gone off in a huff? Come back Gilli! We love you. Spurs are brilliant. George Michael is fabulous! I know nothing!

Tim(e) will confirm it, but upon googling, I'm sure you're right Otis. Great question.

Yes, I will confirm that you are correct enough to be awarded the point. The other half of the question was bassist Nigel Pegram (another Steeleye Span member Rick Kemp was also involved). The rest of the members were from the British prog rock band Gnidrolog.

Otis, you may fire when ready.

Sorry guys, been doing a 12 hour stint at work and collapsing at the end of it. I didn't think for a moment a question would be required. So was the masturbating on stage part right?

New question: what was the first recording to feature Paul Weller and Mick Talbot?

Rick Wakeman isn't a recording.

Dr J: no and no.

Extra kudos if you can also tell the story of how it came about.

Hi gilli, nice to know you're still on this thread. Not SLAC. Not a Style Council song unsurprisingly. That leaves one other possible band. Any takers?

Did he play on Eton Rifles by The Jam? Have'nt heard it in a while, but I seem to hear in my head all kinds of keyboard flourishes when I think of that song.
